1. Background

Karnali Integrated Rural Development and Research Centre (KIRDARC) Nepal has started Child protection and Community Engagement and sponsorship Project (CP/CESP), Nutrition and Resilient Livelihood (Nutrition and Resilient Livelihood) project in Jumla Area Programme and Jumla Sinja Area Programme with the Funding Support of World Vision International Nepal. These projects are now running in different phase of project cycle. Due to lack of alternative income sources economically downtrodden families are compelled to migrate to India or different urban areas of Nepal. Existence of child marriage and different other forms of violence against children are prevalent in the area which are connected to education and food insufficiency state, lack in income resources, and nutritious food to children, traditional sociocultural malpractices and weak government service delivery and protection mechanisms.

This project (Nutrition and Resilient Livelihood) has adopted as Building Secured Livelihood (BSL) project Model. Before starting this project in Jumla, a rapid assessment in value chain resulted that there are thirty-eight crops are currently in cultivation in farmers field. Among them, only four crops are cultivating in large scale as their value; market or local importance is higher and currently working in four crops in Jumla TP with required interventions and supported items. 

2. About the assignment

KIRDARC Nepal is working in five rural / municipality which is located in the western part of Nepal, overseen by the Western Field Office (WFO) of World Vision International Nepal. The Rural Municipality/ Municipality we are currently implementing our works are: The Technical Programmes (TP) being implemented in the areas are Inclusive Nutritional and Resilient Livelihood (NRL) and Protection & Community Engagement and Sponsorship Plan (PCESP). In short, NRL and PCESP TPs aim to increase primary school children who can read, increase children who are well nourished and create a world where children are loved, protected and empowered respectively . 

KIRDARC Nepal is willing to collect evidences of impacts being made through different technical programmes in five Rural /Municipalities (Tila, Patarasi, Guthichaur, Tatopani and ChandanNath Municipality) of Jumla District. Impacts should be gathered in the form of best practices and success stories and should be supplemented by photos and videos. Stories should be in both English and Nepali languages.

3. Objective of the assignment

The objective of the assignment is to produce child focused stories from the field as evidences of our programme impact.

4. Scope of work 

• Conduct meeting/s with project team as and when needed.
• Coordinate with field project staffs and stakeholders to capture success stories and best practices.
• Travel to field to gather child focused stories from the field via one-to-one interviews. 
• Create compelling human centric stories that shows the achievements and impact of WVI Nepal’s work in the community.
• Gather at least five relevant photographs for each story. 
• Caption of photos should be clearly mentioned.   
• Translate stories from English to Nepali or vice-versa. 
• Stories should be reviewed by language experts.
