Duty Station: Surkhet, Karnali Pradesh (including frequent field visits)

Reports To: Monitoring and Evaluation Manager

Contract Term: 1-year fixed term with possibility of extension

Working Hours: Full time from Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Salary Offer: NPR 60,000 to 80,000 gross monthly commensurate with experience and qualifications

1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

Street Child is a UK non-profit organization established in 2008 that aims to support children living in vulnerable settings to ensure they have access to education, including the estimated 260 million schoolage children worldwide who do not attend school. (UNESCO 2020).

Street Child works to ensure children are safe, in school, and learning - even, and especially, in low resource environments and emergencies. Street Child specializes in working with local level organizations for lasting impact. Since 2008, Street Child hassupported 750,000+ children and 50,000+ caregivers across 20+ countries in Eastern Europe, South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Street Child is a dynamic and fastgrowing British NGO recognized for an agile, ambitious approach and has an annual programmatic portfolio of $28M across a range of conflict and crisis context.

Street Child is a fast-growing organization with the experience and capacity to rapidly scale up quality interventions in different contexts. 3. OVERVIEW

Street Child of Nepal is seeking a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Analyst to focuses on assessing and ensuring the effectiveness of projects, programs, or policies. They work to track the progress, outputs, outcomes, and impact of initiatives, usually within sectors like international development, healthcare, education, government, or non-profits. Their goal is to improve performance and facilitate learning within organizations by providing objective, evidence-based information to guide decision-making. This role involves supporting the development of M&E frameworks, ensuring accurate data collection, and performing data analysis to evaluate program effectiveness. The M&E analyst will lead monitoring and evaluations, prepare internal and field reports, and provide technical support to staff on M&E processes, including the use of data management and analysis tools like Microsoft Excel, SPSS, KOBO Toolbox, ComCare, ODK and Power BI. The ideal candidate will have experience in data management and analysis, a strong knowledge of M&E methods, and the ability to enhance program performance through data-driven insights.

4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1 Data Collection, Cleaning and Compiling:

  • Provide support to the Street Child of Nepal Monitoring & Evaluation Manager to monitor the overall qualitative and quantitative data collection process carried out by the implementing partners in the field and provide necessary technical support (Training, handling of technical issues on database management, and installation and operation of data collection and analysis software applications) to the data collection facilitators.
  • Provide support in developing and managing the project monitoring system and oversee the routine program monitoring activities.
  • Provide technical support on mobile-based data collection systems, CommCare Software and Kobo Toolbox, to the collection facilitators on a needs basis.
  • Provide support to creating an M&E framework and procedures for the monitoring and evaluation of project activities.
  • Provide support in defining and implementing the key project performance indicators (KPI) as well as monitoring them throughout the project.
  • Review the collected database and perform data cleaning operations to ensure all observations are uniquely identified and reported data is consistent as well as evidence based.
  • Maintaining integrity and consistency in data while compiling merging database to produce clean data in close coordination with the Implementing Partner's M&E Officer and programs team.
  • Support collecting qualitative information from the field for case studies and success stories.

4.2 Data Analysis:

  • Perform data analysis using different statistical and software tools to produce the required results for different reports.
  • Collect the data and its analysis and prepare various reports as per the program's needs.
  • Produce summary statistics and results of key outcomes and covariate variables.
  • Generate a dashboard of the analysed database and produce disaggregated summary reports in Power BI or in Excel.
  • Assistance in the analysis of qualitative data gathered through various methodologies, including Focus Group Discussions (FGD), Key Informant Interviews (KII), or Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) techniques.

4.3 Dissemination of Information:

  • Provide necessary evidence-based information to the team for producing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports including other relevant sectoral reports as per the needs of the program.
  • Produce a written descriptive report following the approved template.
  • Maintain the existing database, information, and resources sharing platform using intranet, extranet, and Internet system (any available platform of the organization).
  • Disseminate the dashboard generated in Power BI or Excel to the program and partners as required.
  • Performing any other duty assigned by the provincial coordinator related to information management.
  • 4.4 Communication and Knowledge Management Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication in Nepali and English.

5. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher equivalent in relevant fields, such as Information Management, Information Communication Technology, Data Analysis, Statistics, or Economics.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in relevant positions such as on project monitoring and evaluation or data analyst.
  • Relevant experience in designing and conducting monitoring fieldwork; and data collection, analysis, and management and familiarity with statistical tools for a development project/program.
  • Relevant experience in data collection and data management software such as Microsoft Excel, Commcare, Power BI, KOBO Toolbox, etc.
