Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Mentorship and Private Sector Engagement Coordinator (MPEC) will be responsible for the effective implementation of the Mentorship Program for Women Entrepreneurs in Nepal (13365) and act as primary responsible person for private sector engagement for Nepal Country Programme. 50% of the time of the MPEC is allocated for the mentorship program and 50% for private sector engagement. The MPEC is expected to explore different types of private sector engagement for FCA Nepal’s Country Programme strengthening FCA’s private sector engagement and corporate collaboration in Nepal. The role requires close collaboration with stakeholders, including private companies, government agencies, NGOs, and the 

broader entrepreneurial community to ensure the successful delivery of the program’s objectives.

Description

Main Tasks

Mentorship Program Implementation

  • Finalize Project Document (PD) for the Mentorship Program in close coordination with Program Manager, Enterprise Development Advisor and Grants Advisor.
  • Prepare a Detail Implementation Plan after wider stakeholder consultation for Mentorship Program 
  • Develop mentorship modality to execute the activities for mentees and mentors with high quality. 
  • Lead the recruitment process of mentees including organizing outreach activities through different networks and social media and finalizing the selection process.
  • Organize a thorough mapping of possible mentors through different tools in collaboration with FNCCI and other relevant stakeholders to identify the best possible mentors for the program.
  • Facilitate mentee-mentors matching ensuring a productive and supportive relationship that aligns with the program’s objectives.
  • Develop the program modules and curriculum for mentorship with clear objectives and execution methods. 
  • Lead the capacity development initiatives including organizing orientation/training sessions for mentors and mentees, facilitate 1-on-1 coaching sessions between mentors and mentees, providing guidance and support throughout the program period.
  • Coordinate in-person retreats, gatherings, and workshops focusing on technical themes related to entrepreneurship, promoting cross-learning among participants.
  • Coordination with Women’s Bank volunteers to deliver webinars on crucial business topics such as marketing strategies and cultivating a business mindset, ensuring participants receive practical, hands-on advice from seasoned professionals.

Alumni Network Development for Mentors and Mentees

  • Develop alumni network that continues to provide support through ongoing training, webinars, and access to technical resources relevant for the growth and expansion of female run enterprises in Nepal.
  • Organize regular sessions, workshops, and webinars led by alumni to share experiences, knowledge, and best practices.
  • Promote active communication and interaction within the alumni network through online forums, social media groups, and other platforms.
  • Work towards expanding the alumni network, ensuring its sustainability and continued relevance to the program's objectives.Knowledge Management and Learning Platform Development
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive learning platform with resources, such as "how-to" videos, guides, and technical materials relevant to women entrepreneurs.
  • Develop content for learnings materials, best practices, social media posts and ideas from the program and collaborate with graphic designer to develop the final products.
  • Disseminate learnings, best practices, and achievement of the program through social media, networks and other means to wider stakeholder and audiences. 
  • Ensure the learning platform is extensively used by the program participants and contributes to their entrepreneurial growth.
  • Prepare a quality periodic report following the FCA and WB reporting requirements.

Private Sector Engagement

The private sector engagement role is envisioned to contribute to FCA’s Nepal Country Programme.

  • Assess the capacity gaps of FCA Nepal’s partners from Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces in private sector engagement at partner/project level.
  • Based on the assessment, develop modules that may include identification of private sector, engagement modality and scope and objective of engagement with diverse private sector actors, capacity development. 
  • Identify and engage potential private sector partners, including private companies/institutions, their federations and associations etc.
  • Organize and facilitate interaction meetings, workshops, and networking events to explore and solidify collaborative opportunities with private sector entities Map the key market actors (backward and forward linkages) in various subsectors/enterprise FCA Nepal is working with and work to strengthen linkages with those actors for value addition, better market access and growth opportunities.
  • Conduct a mapping and explore the human resource gaps in private sector companies and businesses and look for the possibility of collaboration with FCA’s TVET interventions for employment opportunities for youths. 
  • Develop formal partnership agreements with private sector entities considering the strategic priorities of country strategy and country program.
  • Coordinate joint activities with private sector partners that directly benefit the target group of women entrepreneurs at large, such as resource sharing, funding initiatives, and mentorship support.
  • Continuously monitor and assess the effectiveness of private sector collaborations, adjusting as necessary to maximize impact.

Coordination, Networking and Representation

  • Maintain networking and coordination with partners and other relevant stakeholders including private sector actors.
  • Coordinate with SAC relevant advisors.
  • Collaborate with team member of country office and SAC.
  • Represent FCA in different relevant external forums.

Competence, Experience, Skills, Knowledge Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, development studies, or a related field (master’s degree preferred)
  • At least five years of experience in private livelihood, enterprise development and mentorship programs, or related areas.
  • Working in private sector engagement will have an added value 
  • Strong understanding of entrepreneurship, particularly in the context of women’s economic empowerment in Nepal.
  • Experience in capacity development of partners and/or micro entrepreneurs.
  • Understanding of Human Rights Based Approach and Do No Harm. 
  • Understanding of crosscutting issues such as Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), Climate Action, and conflict sensitivity.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure in an organized and responsive manner. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, communication, negotiation and networking skills and team-working attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, graphics presentations and other relevant applications.

Responsibilities and Independence (please choose the most suitable option)

  • Problem solution requires finding solutions independently. Work is done mainly independently according to goals, plans and general instructions, and it may include financial and supervisory responsibility.
  • The tasks require independency and sometimes responsibility in preparing problem solutions, and alsomaking decisions. The position holder works as a specialist of a sub-sector of function. The work may include demanding responsibility for operations, finances or personnel.
