Yuwalaya, established in 2013, is a purely youth-led, non-profit, non-government organization working for and with adolescents and youths of Nepal.

Yuwalaya in partnership with Oxfam in Nepal is implementing project "Yuwa Sangako Hamro Sahayatra” YSHS aiming to empower youths from ethnic and marginalized groups financially, socially and culturally through conservation of indigenous culture, arts, rituals and music. Currently, Yuwalaya is looking for pro-active, self- motivated and outcome-oriented persons for the following position: 

1. Media, Communication and Documentation Officer - based at Birendranagar Municipality, Surkhet (V001/ Media, Communication & Documentation Officer/YSHS)

Scope of work:

The media communication and Documentation officer is responsible for creating and managing content from the music classes, promoting the music class, documentation of the activities maintaining effective communications with the participants of the music class, coordinating with the stakeholder documenting key events and initiatives ensuring high quality communications to various stakeholders. This role involves creating:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Stakeholder Relations:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local stakeholders and community partners.
  • Coordinate media coverage for concerts, and other special events.

2. Content Creation:

  • Produce and manage content such as articles, case and success stories and social media updates about the project activities and impact.
  • Create multimedia content (photos, videos, produce reels) to promote the class and its events.
  • Work with mentor and music teacher to gather information and stories for content.

3. Documentation: 

  • Document class activities, performances, and events through photos, videos, and written summaries.
  • Maintain an organized archive of all documentation materials.
  • Collect and compile reports highlighting the class’s achievements and impact on students and send it to Project Coordinator.

4. Internal Communication:

  • Assist in organizing project activities, coordination with local governance and stakeholders to arrange meetings.

5. Event Promotion:

  • Assist in the promotion of concerts, music classes, computer classes, and other events.
  • Design promotional materials such as flyers, posters, and digital content specially during the events.
  • Ensure effective communication of event details to all stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong storytelling and content creation abilities.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms and tools.
  • Experience with multimedia content production (photography, videography, graphic design).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with music education and event promotion.
  • Competencies 
  • Creativity:  Ability to develop innovative communication strategies and creating contents for music class

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media and Communications, Information Technology, Photography, Public Relations, Music, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in media relations, communication, or a similar role, preferably with a background in music or arts.
  • Proficient in report writing, documentation and data visualization, Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
