As we expand our operations, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join us in the role of Thematic Head – Food Security and Economic Development.
Position Description: Media and Communication Officer based in central office, Kathmandu
Reports to: MEAL Expert
Duties and responsibilities include:
Scope of the position: Under the direct supervision of MEAL expert, the primary responsibility of the Media and Communication Officer is to lead in implementing the communication strategies and policies to increase the organization’s visibility and engagement. This position is also responsible for executing the organization's MEAL plan and fundraising campaign.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Play a major role in documenting the MEAL Team's reports.
- Develop and update reporting systems/channels within the organization and across partner organizations.
- Develop systematic archives (electronic or other) and update them regularly ensuring that required documents are available as and when necessary.
- Communicate with the International team and provide them with all the necessary documents
- Take, collect, and archive project photos and videos, edit them to develop project stories, and use them for reports, and other published materials.
- In-charge of publishing ‘monthly reports’ of Karuna-Shechen in Nepal – will coordinate with the MEAL Expert, and if required, with the Program Department, to gather information and finalize the report
- Provide necessary documentation support in conducting partner meetings, organization representation, and review and reflection meetings.
- Maintain coordination and communication within the organization, implementing partners, and stakeholders for report generation and dissemination.
2. Actively work with the communication team of Karuna-Shechen in France to develop communication plans and implement them with the help of Shechen Karuna (SK) Nepal team.
- Participate in monthly communication circle meetings with KS teams from France and India to brainstorm new ideas for communication and fundraising campaigns, reports, etc.
- Work with the MEAL Expert, SMT, and other Department Heads to plan and coordinate the collection of reports for timely submission to France, based on the ideas generated from the meeting.
- If required, visit program sites and other relevant places to collect the materials to develop the required ideas requested by the KS team.
3. Media Management
- Develop engaging content for the organization's website, social media, newsletters, and publications.
- Write articles, and reports to showcase the organization's initiatives and achievements.
- Support the planning and promotion of events, workshops, and campaigns.
- Develop promotional materials and strategies to increase attendance and engagement.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in communication, media management, Journalism or related field
- Language fluency in Nepali and English
- Strong base in report writing (both English and Nepali)
- Proven Media Engagement and Event Management Experience
- Proven experience in developing case stories, photography, videography, testimonials, and research
- At least 2 years of experience in INGO/NGOs
- Familiarity with graphic design software is a plus
