IntroductionPeople in Need (PIN) is a non-governmental, non-profit, international organization founded in the Czech Republic in 1992. PIN arrived in Nepal as part of a humanitarian response to the April 25, 2015 earthquake. Since its inception in Nepal, PIN has had a strong role advocating and addressing the needs of marginalized populations. This includes people who live in geographically remote areas of Nepal, people who are from historically marginalized ethnic groups, and those marginalized because of their age and/or gender identity (women and girls). More recently, PIN has also supported Nepal's post-earthquake reconstruction efforts ensuring that the most vulnerable people are not left behind. PIN is strongly committed for safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, including people with disability, in line with its safeguarding framework and child protection policy.
“Aarambha” is a five-year program funded by FCDO’s Leave No Girl Behind (LNGB) program under Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) campaign. The project will be implemented by two downstream partners (DSPs), with strong emphasis on Literacy, Numeracy, Life Skills and Gender Transformative intervention for Out of School (OOS) Adolescent Girls in Madhesh Province. Within the structure, Mainstreaming Coordinator will support Program Manager and DSPs in implementing, managing and achieving the pre-determined project’s outcomes related to mainstreaming agenda of LNGB, that includes gender and social inclusion, disaster preparedness & response and climate change adaptation, safeguarding and communication agenda.
Scope of workAarambha seeks to improve the life choices and opportunities of the girls by providing Literacy, Numeracy, and Life Skills, and by mitigating the adverse effects of early marriage and addressing harmful social and gender norms. Mainstreaming coordinator will support project team to streamline the mainstreaming agenda that will support OOS adolescent girls to pursue their life plans along with creating safe and enabling learning environment to school going adolescents. The general responsibilities (overall purpose) are to support in girls transitioning planning and implementation under school mainstreaming, TVET, market and social protection schemes linkage, cash support and other components like Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), community feedback and response mechanism (CFRM), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and climate change actions for sustainability. With support from technical leads based in Kathmandu office, s/he will be responsible for management of activities trackers, information sharing across the organization, partners and other relevant stakeholders in the field. This position will be based at People in Need’s Chapur Field Office and will work closely with PIN Sectoral Department.

Specific roles and responsibilities:
Project Implementation
- Support on planning and implementation for integrating GEDSI, protection, DRR and climate change initiatives in line with project objectives & sustainability plans
- Coordinate with other field team staff and act as Protection/GEDSI and safeguarding, DRR focal person at field and works closely with PIN sectorial departments and partners’ technical Focal Person.
- Identify gaps of partners in activities implementation and enhance their capacity on mainstreaming components in close coordination with PIN sectorial team.
- Responsible for bridging role within the PIN staffs, partners and local stakeholders to conduct trainings and workshops related to GEDSI, protection, safeguarding, communication and DRR Support DSPs on developing policies and regulations at local level such as Child Protection Policy (CPP) and Code of Conduct, GESI policy, Education plan and disaster preparedness and response contingency plan, school safety plan in close coordination with project team, local levels and sectorial department.
- Support and provide guidance to partner on dissemination of Social Protection Schemes of government at local and provincial level to beneficiaries for their access.
- Support in strengthening of CFRM and project’s visibilities at field level in coordination with respective department.
- Work closely with PIN communication department to support partners on project visibility, collect case & success stories and another project’s documentation,
- Responsible for timely completion of assigned activities as per the project and budgetary plan
- Develop monthly, quarterly action plans in line with d\Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP)
- Coordinate with partners on an effective implementation of project’s mainstreaming agenda, including harmonization of work plans and division of responsibilities as per specific Rural /Municipality needs.
- Ensure the clear communication flow and coordination between PIN, DSPs and Government Stakeholders, other partner and direct/indirect beneficiaries
Coordination and Liaise
- Liaise with concerned government stakeholders and other existing partners in the project district, Rural/Municipality, community and maintain healthier professional relationships in the Project working area (and province) to ensure PIN visibility
- Provide support to the Program Manager and sectorial department to organize district level/Rural Municipality and community level/orientation/induction in relation to Mainstreaming Initiatives within the project
- Coordinate with both the DSPs, Rural/Municipality and other concerned stakeholders.
- Timely communication/report to Safeguarding Focal Person to ensure safeguarding of adolescent girls/staffs at risk.
- Proactively coordinate with MEAL, Communication, Finance, Logistic and other departments as necessary to achieve the assigned task
- Participate in relevant coordination meetings and prepare reports for submission to Line Manager. Support and lead field visits as assigned by Line Manager
Project Operations Management
- Assist Program Manager/Project Manager(s) in operational management of the project including following Financial, Admin, Logistics, Communications tasks to ensure full compliance with PIN's and donors financial and procurement procedures.
- Support Program Manager/Project Manager(s) and M&E unit to ensure that the partners are on track in terms of meeting deadlines and producing quantitative and qualitative deliverables.
- Support Safeguarding focal person to monitor field staffs and partners’ adherence to PIN’s policies and internal procedures, protocols, PIN’s Code of Conduct, with special attention to Safeguarding Standards and Procedure, Case Handling Framework, Child Protection, safeguarding and Do No Harm policies; immediate reporting and redress of any complaints and issues based on its severity.
Advocacy-Representation-Networking
- Proactively lead local advocacy activities in coordination with Partner, line manager and Project team
- Represent PIN at district and provincial forums and coordinate for joint advocacy
- In emergencies, coordinate with agencies in his/her field of activity as part of the inter-agency processes of evaluation, planning and coordination of responses.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
- Proactively support MEAL team in the design, maintain and use data for reporting and decision making
- Responsible for regular field monitoring, collection of case studies and documentation of learnings in close coordination with Communication team
- Facilitate internal and external field monitoring visits to the project working areas
Requirements
Education / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education/social sciences/social work or any related field
Experience and Knowledge
- At least 3 years of work experience specifically in related area particularly on girls and Inclusive education, protection, communication and visibilities, DRR and climate change.
- Strong commitment and willingness to travel to and work with remote and underprivileged communities of Bara, Rautahat of Madesh Pradesh
- Strong documentation (case stories)
Skills/Competencies
- Fluency in Computer use (Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet).
- Good Communication Skills (oral, written) in Nepali, English and local language (Bhojpuri, Bajika, Maithili)
