Olgapuri Vocational School (OVS), an initiative of Olgapuri Social Enterprise (OSE) and promoted by Nepal Youth Foundation, is committed to empowering Nepalese youth by providing highly effective vocational training. We aim to equip underprivileged individuals with practical skills and knowledge, opening doors to rewarding careers towards self-sufficiency. As part of our mission, we are expanding our reach across Nepal and are seeking "instructors" who can work as trainers and makers to join us in shaping the future of vocational education.

We are hiring for the following positions:

Vacant Positions: Instructors: (Total: 8) 

Trades: Electrical, Welding, Plumbing, Carpentry

Required Positions: 2 per trade

  • 1 Lead Instructor
  • 1 Assistant Instructor

Purpose of the positions: 

“To deliver high-quality, skill-based training to underprivileged youth, following the CTEVT curriculum and tailored to the specific needs and contexts of training sites selected by OVS. The instructors will conduct, manage, and complete training sessions within the designated time frame while creating a positive and engaging learning environment. By motivating and inspiring trainees, instructors will ensure the learning process is both impactful and practical, empowering participants to acquire marketable skills that lead to economic independence and dignified livelihoods.”

Major duties and responsibilities: 

  • Assist in Trainee Selection: Support the trainee intake and selection process.
  • Plan and Prepare Training: Develop course outlines, training calendars, and session plans (monthly/weekly/daily) based on CTEVT curriculum and management guidance.
  • Deliver Effective Training: Conduct engaging training sessions using effective teaching techniques, while ensuring both quality service delivery and quality product creation as a skilled service provider and maker.
  • Manage Training Resources: Track necessary materials, tools, and machines, and assist in procurement as required to maintain smooth operations.
  • Monitor Progress: Conduct internal tests, track the trainee progress, and maintain records in accordance with school guidelines.
  • Support & Counsel Trainees: Supervise daily trainee activities, motivate them, and provide personalized counseling when needed to ensure their success.
  • Facilitate OJT and Employment: Help trainees with On-the-Job Training (OJT) and employment placements and coordinate with the Placement unit to assist in job placement.
  • Conduct Soft Skills Training: Provide training in essential soft skills such as communication, entrepreneurship, basic IT skills, and job search techniques to prepare trainees for the workplace.
  • Organize Production & Services: Plan and oversee production tasks in connection with the training calendar, ensuring high-quality work in both training and services provided.
  • Build Relationships: Collaborate with management and engage with local authorities and stakeholders on behalf of the school.
  • Any other tasks as required to conduct as per urgency by supervisor.

Requirements for Lead Instructors 

  • Education: Diploma in the respective trade with a minimum of 2 years of experience, or Level 2 certification with at least 4 years of experience in the field. TITI based Training of Trainers (TOT) certification is mandatory. 
  • Experience: As outlined above, depending on the educational qualification.
  • Knowledge: Must have strong knowledge of the course, CTEVT curriculum, market demands, and policies related to vocational education.
  • Language: Proficiency in both Nepali and English.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Expertise in teaching and performing real-world projects.
    • Strong ability to understand industry trends and dynamics, and to effectively facilitate trainees' learning.
    • Skills in production, repair, and maintenance, with the ability to interpret and execute architectural designs and make cost estimates, develop designs for production works also.
    • Excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
    • A team player with the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Others: Willingness to travel to various work sites and villages across Nepal.
  • Duty Station: Lalitpur, Kailali, and other satellite locations identified by the organization.

Requirements for Assistant Instructors 

  • Education: TSLC in the respective trade with a minimum of 1 year of experience, or Level 2 certification with at least 2 years of experience. TITI based Training of Trainers (TOT) certification is an added advantage.
  • Experience: As outlined above, depending on the educational qualification.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of the course, CTEVT curriculum, and vocational education standards and market requirements.
  • Language: Proficiency in both Nepali and English.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Ability to assist Lead Instructors in delivering training effectively.
    • Practical skills in production, repair, and maintenance, with the capacity to follow designs and plans.
    • Strong communication and motivational skills to support trainees in their learning process.
    • Ability to collaborate and work well in a team environment.
  • Others: Willingness to travel to various work sites and villages across Nepal.
  • Duty Station: Lalitpur, Kailali, and other satellite locations identified by the organization.
