LI-BIRD is implementing a project entitled 'SARATHI: Community Led Holistic Action for Transformative Impact in Resilience, Adaptation, and Inclusion in Nepal' with financial support from Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), United Kingdom led by People in Need (PIN) and Dan Church Aid (DCA) from February 2025 to December 2029 in Madhesh, Lumbini and Karnali Provinces. SARATHI aims to strengthen the early action and climate resilience of the British Embassy Kathmandu (BEK’s) Resilience, Adaptation, and Inclusion in Nepal (RAIN) program for scaling up support for vulnerable and marginalized communities at risk of multi-hazards in Madhesh, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces by 2029.
LI-BIRD invites applications from eligible and qualified Nepali citizens who are committed and have the ability to deliver results with the highest integrity for the following positions:
1. Provincial Adaptation Coordinator (Level 9): 1, (Lumbini Province: district to be decided)
Job Summary: Reporting to the Team Leader, the Provincial Adaptation Coordinator (PAC) will lead and be responsible for the management of the Community Resilience and Adaptation component of Sarathi project at Lumbini and Karnali Provinces by providing the leadership role in planning, sub-grant management, implementation, monitoring, coordination, documentation, and reporting. The PAC is responsible for management of the project resources including staff and budget; building relationships with SARATHI consortium partners, and donors; coordinating with the provincial and local governments and agencies such as Department of Hydrology and Metrology (DHM), Red Cross, District agencies including Agriculture Knowledge Center, District Disaster Emergency Operation Center/Local Emergency Operation Center; and providing technical guidance to the project team to achieve project outcomes.
Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Disaster Management, Natural Resource Management or related field with 5 years of work experience. Candidates having experience in the implementation and reporting of climate change adaptation, nature-based solutions, resilience measurement and disaster risk management related projects are encouraged to apply.
2. Adaptation Officer (Level 8): 2, (One position at Janakpur district and one position at one district of Lumbini Province)
Job Summary: Reporting to the Provincial Adaptation Coordinator or Team Leader, the Adaptation Officer will be responsible for the adaptation related works at the Provincial level. The Adaptation Officer will support to design and implement adaptation and resilient related interventions; select community-based organizations for sub granting and conduct capacity building training and events. The Adaptation Officer will also support supervisor to coordinate with respective Provincial Ministries and Palikas.
Education and Experience: Master's degree in forestry, natural resource management, Environment Science, Engineering in Disaster Risk Management or Climate Change Adaptation or relevant subject/field with three years’ work experience on climate change adaptation and nature-based solutions related projects.
3. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer (Level 8): 1, (Janakpur)
Job Summary: Reporting to the Team Leader, MEAL Officer will be primarily responsible to ensure MEAL component for the project while contributing for the effective development and implementation of the project's MEAL strategy for achieving project outputs and outcomes in close coordination with consortium partners and cross-fertilizing learning generated by the project with key stakeholders. The MEAL Officer duties also include supporting project staff and sub-grantees for effective data recording, compilation, preparing report based on data analysis and key results from the project interventions and generating consolidated M&E data.
Education and Experience: Master's degree in Statistics, Forestry, Natural Resource Management or related field with 3 years of work experience in MEAL sector.
4. Grants and Compliance Officer (Level 8): 1, (Janakpur)
Job Summary: Reporting to Team Leader, the Grants and Compliance Officer will be responsible to oversee and manage grants provided to sub grantees. The Grants and Compliance Officer needs to prepare and execute monitoring plans of the sub-grantees in close coordination with the supervisor and program team. The Grants and Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring the timely fund disbursement, enforce compliance standards, and oversee the due diligence assessment process of Sub-Grantees (community-based organizations-CBOs). The Grants and Compliance Officer will monitor the sub grantees' performance against the action plan prepared based on due diligence and facilitate the capacity building support.
Education and Experience: Masters Degree in Business management with a specialization in Finance, or a related field with 6 years of practical experience in financial monitoring, auditing, reviewing, and accounting. CA/ACCA with 3 years of practical experience in financial monitoring, auditing, reviewing, and accounting are also eligible to apply.
5. Project Admin and Finance Officer (Level 6): 2 (One at Janakpur and one at a district of Lumbini Province)
Job Summary: Reporting to Team Leader/Provincial Adaptation Coordinator, Project and Admin and Finance Officer (PAFO) will be responsible for financial reporting and accounting of the project. The Project Admin and Finance Officer will also be responsible for supporting admin, logistic and procurement related matters of the project at the cluster level.
Education and Experience: Master’s degree in business administration with 3 years of relevant work experience. Candidates with bachelor's in business administration with 5 years of relevant work experience are eligible. Candidates with experience on double-entry accounting software (FAMAS preferred) and prior experience in projects are encouraged to apply.
