1. Background

Rural Development Centre (RDC) Nepal is a non-political and non-profitable organization established in June 2002 with its head office in Rautahat District of Nepal. Since then, RDC is heavily engaged in humanitarian assistance, community development, conservation of natural resources, and environmental protection mainly in the Terai region of Nepal through the dozens of humanitarian and long-term development projects reaching out to the children, adolescent, youth, women, landless, urban poor, and people living with disabilities, HIV & AIDS patients, conflict and disaster survivors from the poor families of historically marginalized Dalits, Muslims, Madhesi and Indigenous communities and other underprivileged groups. Throughout its journey, it has been recognized by the Government of Nepal, Donor Communities, UN Agencies, many International Relief and Development Agencies for its achievements in transforming the society, for its good governance, inclusive operating structure, result oriented development interventions and humanitarian assistance, which RDC considers its greatest strength to take the lead in the sector across the country.

2. The purpose and objective of the consultancy

The main purpose of this consultancy is to make a survey to find the progress status of Reducing Child Labor project of Gujara Municipality being implemented from July 2023 and planned till June 2028. The aim of survey is to identify the good practices and the gaps in the current project interventions and strategies along with to provide guidance and recommendations as well to reach the objective of project to protect and promote child rights by strengthening child rights governance and mechanisms through the collective engagement of communities, CBOs/CSOs and local authorities in Gujara Municipality of Rautahat District within the given time and budget constraints.

3. Scope of work

The scope of the work is as follows:

  • Consultant will be responsible for consultation with key stakeholders and local government for survey. 
  • The Consultant will be responsible to coordinate with the child rights committee of Gujara Municipality and other related stakeholders for their progress, status and further recommendation and guidance to more project forward to reach objective.
  • The consultant will be responsible to visit field and organize FGD, meet stakeholders for KII and other models of survey.
  • Consultant will be responsible for prepare a detailed final mid line survey report guiding status of current indicators of projects and rectification of indicators if needed.

4. Timeline

The proposed expected duration of the consultancy is approximately 30 days to be started from 1st May 2025 and accomplished by 31st May 2025. Candidates / Agency should apply within 7 days of publication.

5. Expected deliverables

The expected deliverable includes:

Final Report on progress and further recommendations of Child Labor in Gujara Municipality of Rautahat

6. Qualification and Experience Required

The consultant can be an organization or individual meeting the following criteria:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in similar studies/ surveys.
  • Proven experience of child protection, its issues and child protection mechanism.
  • Sound experience on government mandates specially in child rights.

7. Documents Required
