About ZERO Circular

ZERO Circular is a regenerative materials startup rooted in Nepal, building local circular economies by replacing fossil-based plastic with biodegradable, home-compostable bioplastics made from nature’s components. With our new in-house production facility, we’re now equipped to scale — and we’re looking for a driven, creative, and strategic mind to lead our sales and business growth efforts.

Role Overview

As the Sales & Business Growth Specialist, you will be at the forefront of driving revenue and market expansion. You will lead our efforts to build a robust sales pipeline, close key deals, expand into new markets, and establish ZERO as the go-to solution for biodegradable packaging in Nepal and beyond. You’ll also work closely with the leadership team to shape strategy, pricing, customer acquisition and retention tactics, and ensure long-term growth.

Role

Mandate to drive customer acquisition, conversion, and retention and market expansion for Zero’s products to help the company lean further into its mission of materials circularity.

The Market (25%)

  • Analysis: Develop proof of existing market by assessing market dynamics, including customer preferences, market size, and bioplastics appetite and uptake among various industries and sectors.
  • Segments: Surface and regularly revisit identified market segments and sectors, keeping updated on their trends and preferences.
  • Data: Devise creative ways to collect and work with market data towards to assess entry and leverage points for circular materials use.
  • Future: Participate in market research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities.

The Customers (60%)

  • Generate: Develop leads from the target market and research opportunities in adjacent markets, maintaining a database of prospects and client interactions.
  • Convert: Identify sales channels, current and future target market segments, and approach potential customers. Move leads into paying customers, and track the overall sales funnel and customer journey.
  • Retain: Ensure customers have a smooth experience through prompt, preemptive and dynamic support, fostering repeat business.
  • Promote: Engage in direct marketing by meeting potential clients, searching for partnerships and exploring promotional opportunities.

The Operations (15%)

  • Relate: Support on communications and relationship management with suppliers, vendors and other partners.
  • Research: Scan the regional and international markets for new suppliers, technologies and potential partners.
  • Track: Support in supply chain logistics for movement of goods and procurement and tracking of services.
  • Record: Maintain record of sales, inventory and clients data base

  • You have worked in business development. You have firsthand experience in how to approach and retain customers, including ground and direct customer generation, negotiation, conversion, and management.
  • You have experience analyzing markets and building a portfolio of customers, ideally B2B. You have a clear understanding of how to approach the Kathmandu market, especially for niche or sustainable projects.
  • You communicate clearly and effectively, with an ability to naturally engage potential customers, including understanding their needs, pain points and desires.
  • You are insatiably curious and collaborative. You always have questions and look for answers, explore opportunities for creative practice, proactively find workarounds to challenges, and are a trusted partner.
  • You are an inclusive leader. You are comfortable leading projects, process and conversations with diverse groups, and with empathy.
