Prerana, a national-level NGO established in 1998, is dedicated to safeguarding and advancing the rights of women, the poor, people with disabilities, and other marginalized communities. Currently, the organization operates in Madhesh, Bagmati, Lumbini and Karnali Provinces of Nepal through partnerships with national and international NGOs, as well as local, provincial, and federal governments, and other key stakeholders. The organization is now seeking experienced and qualified candidates for following positions to ensure the successful implementation of the SARATHI Project is designed to support and contribute to the overarching early action and climate resilience aims of BEK’s Resilience, Adaptation and Inclusion in Nepal (RAIN) programme in partnership with People in Need (PIN) Project – SARATHI is aimed to bring significant value and sustainable scale up to RAIN programme especially in reaching the most vulnerable and marginalised communities at risk of multi hazards in Madhesh, Lumbini and Karnali provinces by 2029. 

1. RAIN Local Government Officer: Required Position-6 (Six), Duty Station: Local Government Units of project working municipalities of Madhesh province, Type of contract: Full time (annually renewal)

Key responsibilities: The RAIN LG Officers will be responsible for implementing RAIN activities that focus on early warning, early action, community resilience, adaptation, and inclusion within targeted local governments. This role involves facilitating local planning and implementation processes in collaboration with Local Governments (LGs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs). RAIN LG officers will coordinate capacity-building initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of local stakeholders in addressing community needs, particularly regarding early warning, early action, inclusion, and adaptation. Additionally, they will assist CBOs in implementing sub-grants and support thematic leads in carrying out activities on the ground. Additionally, the LGO is responsible for organizing project activities, supporting the project team in planning, implementation, and reporting, and representing Prerana as a consortium partner of SARATHI at the Local Government level.  

Requirements: Applicants should hold minimum Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.  A minimum of two years of experience is required in areas such as disaster risk reduction and management, early action initiatives, emergency response, community development, local governance, or related area. Applicants should have demonstrated expertise in program implementation, facilitating participatory planning processes, and collaborating with local governments and community-based organizations. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong capacity-building skills alongside excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, enabling them to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
