What will you do?

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Learning for Development Activity is a 5-year award led by Bixal Solutions, Inc. that provides USAID/Nepal with technical and advisory services in planning, designing, conducting, and learning from the monitoring and evaluation of the Mission’s strategies, projects, and activities in an efficient manner. USAID Learning for Development supports USAID/Nepal by providing services including a) learning and knowledge management; b) evaluations, assessments, and other studies; c) performance monitoring technical support; d) capacity building; and e) development outreach and communications support.  

Position Background

Under the supervision of the Senior Knowledge Management and Learning Director, the KML and Comms Associate is expected to take on responsibility in planning and executing high-impact events and workshops while gaining exposure to qualitative and quantitative research processes and contributing to the production of digital content and communication materials. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop hands-on skills in both project management and client relations.

Location

This position will be based in Kathmandu with possible travels to different places in Nepal. You must be legally authorized to work in Nepal (PAN registration).

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1.           Workshop and Learning Event Coordination

2.        Assist in planning and coordinating logistics for workshops, training sessions, and learning events, including managing event invitations, scheduling, and participant communications.

3.        Support the technical point in contact in coordinating with facilitators to prepare event agendas, handouts, presentations, resources etc.

4.        Provide on-the-ground support prior to and during events, such as site/ venue visits, client assistance, assisting in event setup and coordination etc.

5.        Documentation and Knowledge Management

  • Take clear and comprehensive notes during qualitative interview sessions, ensuring that key takeaways and action points are accurately recorded.
  • Organize and structure events and interview notes and ensure they are stored in existing knowledge management systems.
  • Contribute to the creation of knowledge products and/or post-event reports and documentation, synthesizing insights for internal use and sharing with stakeholders.

6.        Communication

  • Support in developing and coordinating engaging content for various social media platforms in collaboration with various stakeholders. This could include writing, copying and editing.
  • Contribute to the creation of communication plans and products working closely with cross-functional teams (such as design firms, and external partners)

Qualifications

  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in communications, organizational development, or a related field.
  • 3 years of professional experience in workshop coordination, event planning, or logistics management, communication is mandatory.
  • Good English writing and note-taking skills, with the ability to distill complex discussions into clear summaries and insights.
  • Familiarity with qualitative research methods or experience in supporting interview processes is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Flexibility, ability to adapt and working as a team player.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English and Nepali.
  • Experience producing high quality digital content and communication products.
  • Familiarity with media production tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) including photography skill
