Head of Finance

About the Position

This Position will head and provide oversight on FAIRMED Nepal’s Financial management. A key part of the role includes ensuring transparent execution of both internal and external audit and compliance processes as required by the Government of Nepal and FAIRMED internal policies. The role entails overseeing the compliance of FAIRMED Nepal’s local partner NGOs with relevant financial and administrative standards in project areas.

S/he is also expected to lead the organization’s operations specifically that include admin, logistics and procurement ensuring the compliance to relevant policy of FAIRMED Nepal and its implementing partner NGOs in project areas. S/he is expected to strengthen in-house capabilities for grant management and partnerships for ongoing programs and future programmatic expansions. S/he will have staff management responsibilities and will be expected to make periodic visits to the Project offices and PNGOs.

This position is based in Country Office, and reports directly to the Country Coordinator of FAIRMED Nepal and also work closely with HQ Finance focal person.

Major Job Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership in Finance and Operation: Develop and execute financial management strategies aligned with organizational goals. Analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations to the management.

• Financial Planning: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Multi- year budget planning – organize, facilitate, coordinate, and complete the yearly plan of operations with all key stakeholders in Nepal and Switzerland.

• Compliance: Ensure compliance with Government of Nepal and internal FAIRMED policies and requirements for financial management including tax, audit, and reporting obligations at all levels of transactions.

• Risk Management: Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.

• Team Management: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

• Reporting: Provide timely and accurate financial analysis and reports to the Country Office and Head Quarters.

• Operational Function: Oversee the overall operational function of FAIRMED and provide technical support to administrative staff and others as relevant.

• Proactive internal policy management and ensuring up to date systems in a rapidly evolving environment, with scope including local implementing partner NGOs.

• Development and supervision of the Country Office’s Accounting System and Procedures.

Required Qualifications and Experiences

• Master’s degree in management with specialization in finance, or Chartered Accountant from a recognized university with atleast 10 years working experience in financial management and operations in development organizations (INGOs).

• Experience in leading and management of finance and operation functions.

• Experience in development of project and organizational budgets.

• Fluent in English and Nepali languages (verbal and written).

• Excellent in financial analysis, financial planning and report preparation

• Good team player and have good decision-making skills.
