About the organization
Center for Research and Sustainable Development Nepal (CREASION) is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 2005. Since it was founded, CREASION has been a leader in environmental protection in Nepal through recycling, research, emergency response, grassroots, and circular economy-related interventions. CREASION also houses innovative, impact-based projects as well as a learning center for youth. CREASION’s work is primarily centered around four thematic areas: Environment and Sustainability, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Youth and Volunteerism.

About the Project
Green Shift: Circularity of Plastic Waste for Net-Zero Carbon Nepal is a project funded by the European Union to promote the circular economy. This four-year-long project will be implemented in Madhesh Province, Lumbini Province, and Bagmati Province through the lead partner, CREASION, and consortium partners Restless Development Nepal and Youth Innovation Lab (YI-LAB). The primary goal of this project is to promote circular economy by establishing strong plastic waste collection and recycling mechanisms, promoting plastic alternative products, and engaging key stakeholders in policy advocacy.
Position: GESI consultant
Scope of the Work
Understanding and Ensuring the integration of the GESI strategy
An inclusive GESI strategy for the entire project to ensure that all the project components are inclusive.
To incorporate and address different gender dynamics between our stakeholders and target areas.
Facilitate consultations:
- Facilitate consultations in all projects’ target agencies and areas, and capture gender considerations, ensuring the equal participation of women and marginalized communities in identified stakeholder groups.
- Provide consultations and guidance on safeguarding in order to ensure an inclusive and safe working environment.
- In consultation with the Project Lead, review and/or support the development of gender-sensitive project proposals;
- Develop necessary methods and tools, such as guidelines for specific processes and the work of different parts of the project.
- Conduct, evaluate, and report on social and/or gender audits.
- Contribute to the identification and capturing of best practices and lessons learnt on social and gender equality.
Development of Gender-sensitive materials:
- In collaboration with the project team, support the development and dissemination of outreach materials, ensuring they are gender sensitive and promote gender equality.
- Assist in the preparation of gender-based work plans for project-related activities and engagement activities with a gender perspective.
- Develop a gender action plan/ strategy and support its implementation.
- Support the project teams in the development of reports/proposals and documents from a gender lens.
- Support the development and delivery of workshops on gender-related concepts, policies, or relevant issues to develop knowledge and ownership of gender issues.
Support in Project Implementation:
- Help support and strengthen the team’s knowledge of the gender and cultural context in the country for more effective project planning.
- Assist in the pre- and post-evaluation processes of the project; coordinate with the project team and consortium partners, and implement planned activities with a gender perspective.
- Develop and implement GESI operational guidelines, toolkits, and checklists designed for each focus area of the project.
- Support the integration of social inclusion aspects, including community engagement and adequate participation of vulnerable groups.
Qualifications/ Requirements of the consultant:
- At least 5 years of experience in gender-related issues and community engagement, and development.
- Experience in gender mainstreaming, analysis, and research, designing gender policies, strategies, guidelines, and training manuals.
- A master's degree in Gender Studies, Urban Studies, Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, Political Science, or a related discipline is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English and Nepali).
Timeline for consulting
The level of effort for this assignment is 7 days per month. (Note: The level of effort may change monthly depending on the needs of the project)
