Rastriya Rojgar Prawardhan Kendra (RRPK) is an NGO dedicated to developing rural communities in Education, Health & Nutrition, Child Protection, Livelihood, Human Rights, Safer Migration, gender and empowerment, good governance, Disaster Risk Reduction and WASH in Nepal since 2004. It has been implementing “Sponsorship Program”  in Sarlahi District in partnership with Save the Children.

Rastriya Rojgar Prawardhan Kendra invites applications from the interested and eligible candidates (Nepali citizen only) who are reliable, accountable, and have the ability to deliver results with the highest level of integrity for the following position under both “Sponsorship program” at Godaita & Balara Municipality, Sarlahi.

1) Position: Field Officer (Child Poverty)

Summary of Job:

Field Officer-CSL is responsible for managing the overall Child Sensitive Livelihoods (CSL) and Adolescent Skills for Successful Transition (ASST) interventions of Samunnati Program under the supervision of Project Coordinator and close coordination with Community Mobilizers, Supervisors, JTA and other thematic staffs of Sponsorship program. The position holder will have a key role in designing, planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting. S/he will manage his/her 70% time on field for implementation and 30% time in an office for reporting, coordination, and networking.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support Community Mobilizers in an identification of ultra poor HHs for farmer group formation and group registration on Municipality-Agriculture/Livestock Division.
  • Support Community Mobilizers and JTA on demand collection of on-farm/off-farm materials from farmer groups/entrepreneurs and their timely distribution.
  • Regular observation of agriculture farms and provide technical support to farmer groups on cultivation technology, day to day field management, disease/insect control and post-harvest management.
  • Support Community Mobilizers and JTA on nursery management training, production management training, post-harvest training, IPM training, vermicompost preparation training, mushroom production training, local resource person (LRP) training, saving & credit training. 
  • Support farmer groups to establish good marketing channel of their produced items. 
  • Identification/selection of resource person/training institute to conduct ME/SIYB training/vocational training for adolescents/out of school students.
  • Support microentrepreneurs to prepare business plans of their microenterprises.
  • Facilitate Financial Literacy (FL) and Life Skill for Success (LS4S) training to facilitators in coordination with Field Officer-CP& CRG.
  • Regular monitoring of Financial Literacy (FL) and Life Skill for Success (LS4S) sessions conducted by facilitators.
  • Support WCRC/cooperatives on an operation and management of Child Endowment Fund/Revolving Fund.
  • Support cooperatives to mobilize revolving funds and ensure the utilization of revolving funds on-farm/off-farm activities.
  • Track monthly/yearly data (farmer group, ME/VT/farmers income, lease land, ME/VT/farmer’s children education and disability) and other activities related data on Online Program Management Information System (OPMIS) in coordination with Community Mobilizers and JTA.
  • Take overall responsibility in the district in preparation of detailed implementation plan (DIP) and phased budget of Child Poverty interventions (CSL & ASST) under Samunnati program in accordance with the guidelines, framework, policies and country strategic plan.
  • Ensure timely implementation of the project activities in accordance with the work plan.
  • Coordinate with different thematic areas for integration of Sponsorship program. 
  • Support immediate Supervisor for planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of Sponsorship program.
  • Document best practices, lesson learned and success of the project.
  • Coordinate with district/local level stakeholders and donor organization for the smooth running of the Child Poverty theme of Sponsorship program.
  • Adopt and demonstrate ‘Do No Harm’ policy in each step of assignments.
  • The position holder will have to abide child safeguarding, protection from sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH) policy including RRPK code of conduct. S/he will have to maintain dual adult rule while visiting/meeting children.
  • The job responsibilities as explained above are not exhaustive and the position holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experiences for good will of organization.
  • Ensure that all staff members in program team are feeling comfortable in the job and team and inform the Project Coordinator if the employees face particular challenges or have specific needs.

Required Education & Experience:

  • B.Sc. Agriculture (Master preferred) with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in on-farm and micro enterprises  
  • Having well knowledgeable and good understanding in community mobilization and livelihood activities.
  • Able to speak English, Nepali, Maithili and Awadhi and prepare reports in the same languages.
  • Computer knowledge (word, excel, power point,) and strong in e-mail internet.
  • Having valid driving license along with personal bike.
  • Well team player and maintain cooperation in diversified team.
  • Female candidates will be highly encouraged.
