Introduction:

Regimental Administrative Office (RAO) is to deliver efficient and effective administrative support to HQ BGN to achieve the wider mission of maintaining the firm base in Nepal in order to enable Gurkha recruiting and welfare services.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description:

  • Imprest Account Operator for NPR (includes voucher checking/approving / payment making/booking etc.)
  • Responsible for requirement of funding request to British Gurkhas Kathmandu (BGK).
  • Maintain debit vouchers for Regimental Administrative Officer’s monthly audit.
  • Maintain permanent floats folder.
  • Daily/monthly closure of accounts and Cash reconciliation.
  • Ensure that only legitimate Service Person and MOD Civilian Staff cash the UK cheque within their limit and forward to Defence Business Services (DBS) on a weekly basis.
  • Issue duty trek allowance and reconcile as required.
  • Administer and account all travel and subsistence allowance for BGN Civilian Staff (CS), and Potential Recruits during every phase of Gurkha Recruiting.
  • Support Recruits Intake (RI) by providing cash to T/Rfn before their departures.
  • Payment of Medical Claim for BGP Service Personnel (SP) UKBC & CS.

What you will be doing:

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Standard Chartered Bank and various other Banks in relation to BGP Imprest Account and banking matters.
  • Sending of overpaid pension refund letter to various Banks.
  • Pension payment to British Army/Gurkha Contingent Singapore Police Force (GCSPF) Veterans and Voluntary Allotment (VA) to next of keen (NOK) of GCSPF Service personnel.
  • Prepare monthly return of GCSPF VA/Pension payment and submit to Executive Office Finance BGK.
  • Prepare reports on BA/GCSPF recruiting expenditure and submit to Civ Sec at the end of recruiting season.
  • Complete and submit Bank Confirmation Request to National Audit Office (NAO) at the end of fiscal year.
  • Any other work tasked by RAO/OC BGP/FSA BGN.
  • Line manage staff as per requirement.

You must have:

  • Excellent written/ spoken English and Nepali language skills.
  • Excellent IT knowledge using MS Office tools (Including Outlook, Excel & Word)
  • Proven experience, qualifications, and training is preferable for this role to deliver the job responsibility effectively and efficiently.
  • You will be assessed on your English language skills and IT knowledge, Accounting/Finance knowledge and skills through a Practical Assessment to qualify for interviews during the sifting and selection process.
  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in Accounting or Finance from a reputed institute with 5 years of proven experience is required for this position.

  • Salary 132,987.00 NPR per month (Permanent).
  • Gratuity after completing 3 years’ service.
