National Federation of Women Living with HIV and AIDS (NFWLHA), formerly known as the Women’s Network against HIV & AIDS (WONAHA), was initially established as a loose network in 2006 and was officially registered in 2007 with a vision to create a just and equitable society for women and children infected and affected with HIV, so that they can live productive, empowered and dignified life, free from stigma and discrimination. Underpinned with guiding principles of gender equity and human rights, evidence-based planning, programming and policy-advocacy, NFWLHA has broadened its strategic intervention areas over the last nine years, focusing mainly on strengthening and capacity development of network, knowledge management for evidence-based policy advocacy and community system strengthening. Currently, there are 35 community-based organizations (CBOs) affiliated to NFWLHA representing Nepal’s seven provinces, all led by women living with HIV (WLHIV).

1. About NFWLHA

The National Federation of Women Living with HIV and AIDS (NFWLHA), formerly known as the Women’s Network against HIV & AIDS (WONAHA), was initially established as a loose network in 2006 and was legally registered in 2007 with a vision to create a just and equitable society environment. NFWLHA works for the equal rights of infected and affected women and children along with the youth who are at risk of HIV in today’s context. The vision of NFWLHA is to create a just and equitable society where HIV-infected and affected women and their children live productive, empowered, and dignified lives free from stigma and discrimination with a mission of National Advocacy for Women, Children, and Youth sensitive and friendly policies and intervention plans. It has a network in all seven provinces and is implementing its projects in 35 districts.

Under the Community Led Monitoring Project (CLM), NFWLHA invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) for qualitative and quantitative data cleaning. The goal is to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and readiness of the data for subsequent analysis.

2. Objectives:

The primary objective of this consultancy is to clean and organize both qualitative and quantitative data to ensure its accuracy, consistency, and readiness for analysis. This involves transcribing, coding, and validating qualitative data, as well as cleaning and preparing quantitative data.

3. Scope of Work:

The consultant will be expected to:

  • Review the collected qualitative and quantitative to understand its scope and context.
  • Ensure that all transcriptions are clear, complete, and free from errors.
  • Review and ensure the completeness of data. If major missing data is found consultant consults with data collectors and fulfills the missing data.
  • Develop a coding framework based on the project’s objectives and research questions.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the coding.
  • Perform the initial descriptive analysis to review the consistency with data and identify any outliers.

4. Timeline:

The scope of the work will start once the contract is signed.

5. Expected Deliverables:

  • A detailed document outlining the steps and methodologies for cleaning the data, including timelines and milestones.
  • A report that evaluates the initial state of the data, identifying key issues such as missing values, inconsistencies, outliers, and errors.
  • A comprehensive report detailing the data-cleaning process, including a summary of the key findings, utilizing to this end the table and figure prepared and attaching the standard set of matrices to the report.

6. Eligibility Criteria:

  • The consultant should have expertise in proficiency in various methods and techniques for identifying and rectifying data quality issues, such as missing values, outliers, duplicates, and inconsistencies.
  • An advanced degree in social sciences, data analysis, statistics, or a related field is a must.
  • Knowledge and experience working in the field of HIV and with Community-based organizations will be a clear advantage.
