Job Specification
- Education Level: Master’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- Experience Required: More than or equal to 8 years
- Professional Skill Required: Leadership, Attention to Detail Management, Time Management, Work Under Pressure
Skills and abilities:
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills in both Nepali and English.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and under tight deadlines.
- Experienced in designing and delivering training programs tailored to specific needs, enhancing participant learning and engagement.
- Well-versed in a range of software applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, facilitating document management, presentations, communication, and data handling.
- Strong leadership abilities, with a focus on guiding teams effectively and achieving project goals.
- Skilled in documentation and management practices, ensuring organized and accessible record-keeping and workflow processes.
- Motivated to contribute to community-level projects, promoting positive local impact and sustainable development.
- Possession of a motorbike driving license, providing added flexibility and mobility for project-related travel.
Appointment Type: Full Time for one year with possibility of extension
Required Qualification: Master’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental management, impact assessment, and compliance monitoring.
- Proven experience in conducting EIAs, IEEs, and preparing EMPs.
- Familiarity with national and international environmental laws, including funding agency standards (e.g., USAID, World Bank, ADB etc).
- Priorities will be given to the candidates having prior experience working with local governments of Nepal.
Language required: English, Nepali
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all project activities comply with environmental laws, regulations, and standards.
- Minimize environmental risks and enhance sustainability.
- Provide expert guidance on environmental best practices.
- Support capacity building for project teams and stakeholders in environmental management.
- Conduct or review Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Initial Environmental Examinations (IEEs) and Basic Environment Study.
- Identify potential environmental risks and propose mitigation measures.
- Prepare or review detailed Environmental Management Mitigation Plans (EMPs) for project activities.
- Prepare Environmental Review Report of projects
- Ensure adherence to local, national, and international environmental laws and regulations, including those of funding agencies (e.g., USAID).
- Establish and implement monitoring systems to track environmental impacts.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor environmental compliance and effectiveness of mitigation measures.
- Organize and conduct training sessions on environmental management for project teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Develop educational materials to promote environmental awareness.
- Engage with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and local communities to address environmental concerns.
- Facilitate public consultations and ensure community concerns are integrated into project planning.
