Introduction of PEEDA

People, Energy, and Environment Development Association (PEEDA) is an NGO established in 1997 for the enhancement of renewable energy in Nepal. PEEDA aims to mobilize local and external resources to harness indigenous resources, thereby promoting poverty alleviation activities. The objective of the organization is to improve the livelihoods of communities, particularly the poor, by communal utilization of renewable energy resources while ensuring due care for the environment. 

PEEDA has been working and active in the field of renewable energy and the environment for more than 25 years. The objective is to enhance socio-economic development through research and implementation. PEEDA’s working area includes all districts within Nepal, but especially the rural areas – particularly the poor. 

Job Position: Electrical Engineer (Full Time) 

PEEDA is currently implementing renewable energy projects thereby promoting electric cooking at household and institutional levels. For which, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer who is enthusiastic, motivated and willing to contribute. The position demands a positive attitude, teamwork, and assistance in implementing electrical engineering-related activities.

Responsibilities

• Design of electrical layout and wiring systems
• Conduct performance and durability tests of e-cooking appliances
• Conduct training sessions on repair and maintenance of e-cooking appliance at community level
• Plan and Conduct the demonstrations of e-cooking technologies at the community and institutional levels
• Facilitate in hosting stakeholder’s workshops and events  
• Design and develop knowledge management documents related to renewable energy and energy efficiency electrical projects.
• Take lead in data collection and analysis of transformers, micro hydropower plants and smart energy meters
• Conduct household and institutional level assessment to understand energy usage patterns
• Support in preparation of reports, presentations and database management 
• Travel to different places as required for project implementation. 
• Perform various duties/tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and skills

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or any other relevant technical field
• At least 1 year of working experience in electrical-related systems
• Good understanding of electrical power systems, electric cooking, Electrical AUTOCAD and renewable energy technologies 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages
• Knowledge of internet of things (IOT), and digital energy meters is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical and analytical thinking skills
• Ability to handle the mass and have good communication skills.

Duration of Job

The job will be valid for a term duration of 12 months, with possibilities of extension depending upon the performance.
