Currently Prayas Nepal is implementing different programmes in education, agriculture and infrastructure with support from dZi Foundation aiming to help the rural communities and contribute financially to eliminate barriers to basic needs, fostering opportunities for sustainable livelihoods, and building their capacity to catalyze transformational change. As a partner organization PRAYAS NEPAL has already worked in different sectors to support complementary health, education, and livelihood programs that unlock local opportunities, build more unified communities, and create lasting solutions to complex local challenges.

Currently Prayas Nepal is implementing different programs in education, agriculture and infrastructure. Prayas Nepal with support from dZi Foundation/Nepal is currently implementing a project aiming at helping rural communities in Aiselukharka RM, khotang achieve prosperity by eliminating barriers to basic needs, fostering opportunities for sustainable livelihoods, and building their capacity to catalyze transformational change. The project partners with communities to support complementary health, education, and livelihood programs that unlock local opportunities, build more unified communities, and create lasting solutions to complex local challenges.

Job Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Program Officer, the Education Officer's primary responsibility is to ensure that all planned activities under the Quality Education Program are effectively implemented to improve the quality of education in targeted schools. This role involves maintaining regular contact with school administrators, visiting cluster schools regularly, and ensuring that project activities directly support the overall quality improvement of schools and the educational goals of the partner municipality.

Responsibilities

Program Design and Planning

1. Design and Implement Activities

  • Co-design and implement quality education activities such as training, assessments, onsite coaching for teachers, life skills sessions, and parenting education.
  • Prepare strategic plans for project operation in collaboration with donor organizations, local government, schools, child clubs, and other stakeholders.

2. Develop Standards

  • Develop required standards of project interventions to support schools, children, and the community, ensuring inclusiveness in child participation.

Community Engagement and Capacity Building

1. Group Formation and Mobilization

  • Form community groups like child clubs, parents’ groups, and girls’ clubs and mobilize them for empowerment and capacity strengthening.

2. Community Sensitization

  • Conduct orientation, interaction, and discussion sessions to sensitize communities on child rights, child protection, and other educational issues.

Training and Facilitation

1. Workshops and Training

  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to enhance the capacity of teachers, child club members, parents, and community stakeholders on inclusive classroom pedagogy, classroom management, school leadership, child rights, and child protection.

Coordination and Collaboration

1. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Extend coordination with local government, schools, community networks (child clubs, child rights committees), other like-minded organizations, and civil society to seek collaboration and support.

2. Participation in Meetings

  • Participate in programs, meetings, and discussions at the district/community level and share learnings and experiences.

Monitoring and Reporting

1. Monitoring and Supervision

  • Ensure quality program implementation in the field through day-to-day monitoring.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and event reports.

Other Duties

1. Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as required to support the overall goals of the project.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree in education.

Prior Work Experience

  • Progressive professional experience of more than 2 years in a relevant role within national and international development organizations.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in education/child education, preferably in quality education.
  • Understanding of GON’s education system, policies, and strategies.
  • Knowledge of and strict adherence to child rights, child protection policy, and practices in the education sector.

Skills and Abilities

  • Good training facilitation and data management skills.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English and Nepali. Working-level fluency in local/regional languages is a plus.
  • Good organizational skills to balance competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Good and empathetic interpersonal skills to work harmoniously with diverse team members.
  • Proficient computer skills, including competency with Microsoft Office packages.

Physical Requirements

  • Willingness to travel/walk to the field with limited supervision, guidance, and conditions.
