Rural Education and Environment Development Center (REED Nepal) is a non-governmental organization with its vision "'Quality Education and Resilient Environment for Just Society". Currently, we are working in more than 26 districts of Nepal to enhance the inclusive quality education and resilient environment in the right based approaches. We work closely with the government priorities to support and complement their efforts for vulnerable children where their rights to protection are guaranteed and inclusive quality education strengthened. REED Nepal invites the applications for "Teacher Training Quality Education Program-TTQE, Taplejung'' from the eligible candidates for the positions below:

1. Position: Education Development Coordinator (EDC): 1(One)

Job Location: Taplejung

Educational Qualification: Master's degree in English education, humanities and Social Science /Equivalent

Work Experience: Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in teaching at secondary level with sound understanding of pedagogy or three years’ experience in education related project (Preference to working experience in I/NGO on Teacher Capacity Development).

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with local level line agencies (Municipalities) for implementation of the Teacher Capacity Development.
  • To lead the training events of TTQE program in consultation with District Manager and coordination with EDOs following the Project Design Document (PDD), M & E Matrix, Detail Implementation Plan (DIP), and Budget Plan through innovative, adaptive and participatory approaches.
  • Design, develop and deliver a wide range of training packages for community level schoolteachers and key stakeholders in line with Nepal Government’s existing packages based on the identified needs and gaps.
  • Study, review and monitor the suggestions from concerned stakeholders (within and outside the organization) to maintain quality improvement, the conduction and management of teacher training.
  • Support to update the annual DIP and budget review and revision on time; and update about potential variation with proper justification for pre-approval.
  • To coach the Education Development Officer (EDOs) and Senior Education Field Officers (SEFOs)   as per the individual staff’s  DIP, and to deliver programmatic results as per the annual plan.
  • To carry out training need assessments of the teachers and stakeholders and amend the training packages accordingly 
  • To motivate school management committees, HTs, resource teachers, teachers and local  Government for their active participation in the project planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation, as and when required.
  • Regularly monitor and ensure practice of: child friendly teaching and learning, gender and disability inclusion, child protection and environmental responsibility across the TTQE program and desired outcomes of the project.
  • Regularly carry out in-school support activities as per DIP and coordination in the assigned Palikas/Municipalities
  • To ensure all activities are implemented as per REED policy and guidelines and project activities are timely completed as defined in DIP.
  • Receive community proposals and share with District Manager with way outs.
  • To work with District Manager, EDOs and SEFOs of TTQE Project on ECED, Integrated Curriculum, Subject based Trainings, GESI,  and Remedial Teaching of local government, and school going initiatives for basic school
  • To report the progress/issues of the project regularly and on time to the line Manager
  • Carry out other relevant tasks requested by line Manager/Central office.
  • Coordinate with District Manager and guide other staff to conduct teacher-training programs
  • To perform as per the Dos and Don’t and relevant information received funding partners or center office to team members and communities.
  • To support to prepare the procurement plan of the project and submit the operation department.

Required Skill and Competencies

  • Lead in necessary arrangement (logistic, documentation, communication and coordination) for the conduction and management of training.
  • Strong commitment to work in team for promoting the team building and feedback culture.
  • Data compilation, management, report preparation and documentation.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including catalyzing, connecting, and building the capacity of multiple level of stakeholders: teachers, school management committee, parent's teacher association, community groups/people.
  • Submit the progress report of training programs to District Manager.
  • Lead in event wise report writing and support in proposal writing
  • Command on Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point.
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote and mountainous regions.
  • Attend the conferences and present the research-based papers on behalf of REED Nepal.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including catalyzing, connecting, and building the capacity of community groups/people.
  • Well known and practiced on adult learning and child psychology.
  • Strong understanding of community/people-led development work.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership skills, coordination skills, presentation skills and communication skills including the ability and commitment to listen to others.

2. Position: Senior Education Field Officer (SEFO): 1(One)

Job Location: Taplejung 

Educational Qualification: Bachelor degree in education, humanities and Social science/equivalent

Work Experience: Minimum two years' teaching experience in community schools. Preference to Bachelor degree in education with conducting education training to the teacher. S/he should have good knowledge and understanding of community school education system, education theories and modern pedagogy including school management committee (SMC), PTA, Parents, Child club and community school system.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • To conduct regular meetings in coordination with RMs and  school stakeholders for program implementation and support,
  • To assist in preparing Community Orientation Packages and conduct orientations to the community people, child clubs and other key stakeholders of schools,
  • To capacitate to the school child club through different activities,
  • To assist in preparing SMC/PTA training packages and to conduct SMC/PTA trainings,
  • To assist in preparing Parents Orientation packages and conduct the orientations,
  • To work as a Co-facilitator during teachers’ trainings,
  • Compilation, verification and management of program related information, data and Monitoring and evaluation system.

Required Skill and Competencies

  • Strong working knowledge of MS office (Word and Excel) and Nepali typing skill,
  • Ability to work effectively with an ethnically diverse team and communities in a sensitive environment,
  • Ability to work in a Team with better understanding of cooperation, coordination and communication, 
  • Have experience in and knowledge of teachers’ training, and distance learning,
  • Have good understanding of School Library, Classroom management, educational materials (Teaching/Learning), and office management, Scholarships distribution and monitoring process,
  • Ability to collect and prepare success stories and to prepare event reports,
  • Have basic knowledge of Gender Equity and Social Inclusion, the integrated curriculum, and DRR
  • To be able to carry out regular monitoring and school support activities in schools in the project area,

Professional Skills:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali required.
  • Prior experience of working with schools, government institutions, and familiarity with NGO/INGO working /reporting processes required.
  • Experience in education sector, teachers’ training in Nepal and community mobilization.
  • Experience in Classroom Teaching, National Curriculum Framework (1-8) of Nepal
  • Flexible and adaptable to change, ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities despite.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team, take initiatives independently.
  • Understanding of and commitment to REED Nepal's mission and values.
  • Willing to work in any Palikas of Taplejung  district to achieve the objectives of the organizations.
