INTRODUCTION
Nepal In Business (NiB) is a five-year program (July 2024 – 2029) implemented by DAI Global UK and funded by FCDO. The primary goal of NiB is to unlock economic prosperity by driving growth, expanding businesses domestically and internationally and addressing income poverty in Nepal. The Program will provide technical support to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to enhance their organisational effectiveness through improved management and productivity, thereby making them globally competitive and helping them to grow and connect in the global value chain. This will thereby lead towards achieving business growth and creating new jobs. NiB will also engage with government to create a more conductive business environment and crowd-in private investment. NiB will promote more inclusive business models and contribute towards poverty reduction by prioritising jobs for women and people from disadvantaged groups. NiB will adopt a firm focused comprehensive approach to enhance productivity and competitiveness of targeted private sectors in five priority sectors located in the three provinces and industrial corridors to make them globally competitive.
DURATION
NiB runs for an overall period of five years, from 15th July 2024 to 15th July 2029. The driver is required from 1st April 2025 until 30th June 2029, initially with a six-month probation period.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of driver is to ensure smooth operations, especially when transportation is a key part while delivering business activities. A driver’s responsibilities are beyond simply driving a vehicle; they will often contribute to overall logistical efficiency and safety. This role is critical for maintaining the organization's operations.
Essential Duties
- Safely transporting employees to and from assigned destinations.
- Ensuring that the vehicle is in good working condition both internally and externally, including regular checks (oil, tires, brakes, etc.), cleanings, fuelling and reporting any issues. Report any technical or mechanical issues promptly and ensure that the vehicle is serviced when required.
- Keeping accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance, and repairs.
- Ensure that all required documents, such as insurance, registration, and licensing, are up to date.
- Ensure compliance with all DAI and local driving laws and regulations (traffic laws, regulations, and DAI safety guidelines).
- Coordinating with administration team for route planning and updates.
- Operating the company vehicle only for official purposes unless explicitly authorized.
- Provide support to both programming and operations teams including supporting pick up, deliveries and other errands as needed.
- Provide clerical support to administration and operations for smooth running of organization.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Min SLC passed is required
- Valid Nepalese driver’s license for four wheeled vehicles.
- At least 5 years of work experience as a driver, with donor project experience.
- Able to check road condition before departure for safety precaution.
- Ability to report issues and communicate effectively with others.
- Able to communicate in English
- Able to maintain good working relationships with team members while retaining high levels of confidentiality and discretion.
- Good physical health with excellent and clean driving record.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite especially Word & Excel) are advantageous.
SUPERVISION AND LOCATION
The role will report on a regular basis to the Administration and Procurement Officer and be based in Nepal in Business Office in Kathmandu, Nepal.
