As part of the broader reproductive justice movement, Ipas is working to ensure that abortion and contraceptive care are essential health services and that all people can access them. Our programs use a multifaceted approach that addresses reproductive health services, access to services, and fulfillment of reproductive rights. We seek to expand the accessibility, availability, acceptability and quality of abortion and related reproductive health services, as well as improve the enabling environment for the sustainability of RH services.
Ipas Nepal’s program intervention prioritizes intersectional partnerships that integrate into broader gender equality and social justice, including gender-based violence prevention and response, women-led climate justice and disaster risk reduction.
Position: Driver
Number of positions required: 1 (one)
Base: Kathmandu
The Driver is responsible to drive Ipas Nepal’s vehicle and ensure that the vehicle is in proper condition. S/he should ensure the cleanliness of the vehicle on a daily basis and oversee routine maintenance and servicing of the vehicle.
Detailed duties and responsibilities for the position
Driving service
- Ensure the vehicle is in good condition with daily vehicle inspection.
- Provide driving service for Ipas staff in/outside of Kathmandu Valley.
- Ensure the internal/external cleanliness of the vehicles and motorbikes.
- Ensure the fuel availability in the vehicle for daily use.
- Follow the traffic rules properly and always be careful of organizational norms and values.
- Follow the correct procedure in the event of an accident, notify the supervisor/office immediately, and render assistance where necessary.
- Ensure all necessary toolboxes, safety items, and first-aid boxes are available in the vehicle.
- Follow up on the vehicle's regular servicing in reputable outlets and parts replacement such as air filter, engine oil, and other needed parts, etc.
- Properly log the refueling quantity, repair/maintenance, and parts replacement details in the logbook.
- Log the travel details in Ipas standard once the travel ends.
- Timely renew the vehicle's and motorbike's documents such as a blue book, pollution check (green sticker, etc.)
- Calculate fuel consumption ensuring the proper maintenance of the logbook and compare the mileage.
Admin & Finance support
- Support in making photocopies, scanning, binding, and toner/cartridge replacement in photocopiers and printers.
- Provide logistic support in workshops, meetings, and seminars.
- Errand Bank, NTC, Drinking Water Office, CIT, PF, SSF, Tax office for related transactions.
- Visit governmental, partners, donors, and vendors' offices for delivery of official documents, letters, parcels, pouches, etc.
- Receive phone calls and relay/take messages in the absence of the Admin Officer.
- Support store management as and when required.
Understand and comply with the organization's policies and ethics
- Understand and comply with the Human Resources, Procurement, Travel, Finance Policy, and other policies of the organization.
- Commitment and adherence to the Ipas code of business ethics and conduct and safeguarding policy.
- Ensure Ipas representatives (including consultants, interns, volunteers, independent contractors, suppliers/vendors, board members, and sub-awardees) and government officials directly working with Ipas and its partners understand and practice the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse policy while in partnership and implement the program with Ipas.
- Contribute to a safe working environment where every team member is treated equally and respectfully.
- Live up to the Ipas core values-driven, principled, bold, interdependent.
- Ensure all work activities comply with the organization's rules and regulations
- Ensure proper documentation of memos, decisions, reports, and any official documents for record keeping hardcopy/OneDrive/Luna as appropriate.
PSEA compliance
- As an Ipas Nepal employee read, understand, and sign the acknowledgment to comply with all aspects of the PSEA as defined by the PSEA policy.

Other responsibilities
- Engage in a learning culture and participate in and enroll in learning courses at Ipas University.
- Willing to be back up for staff and vacant positions and perform other related duties as required.
Qualification and skill requirements:
Minimum Requirements
- Should be able to read and write general English and Nepali.
- A candidate with an SLC/SEE completion certificate will be preferred.
- Must have a valid driving license.
- A minimum of 5 years of driving experience.
- Previous experience of working in I/NGO will be preferred.
- Must have skills and knowledge in vehicle maintenance; ability to do simple general maintenance as required on the vehicle.
- Must be conversant with all traffic regulations and the Highway rules.
- Willing to travel outside the valley as required.
- Proven employment record in a similar position.
