BACKGROUND:
KOSHISH is implementing the (Promoting Mental Health and Suicide Prevention in Nepal project (ProMHSiN), funded by CBM and operating in the Lamjung, Kaski, and Gorkha districts of Gandaki Province. The primary objective of this initiative is to foster an enabling environment where individuals with mental health conditions, psychosocial disabilities, and suicide survivors can fully exercise their rights and actively participate in suicide prevention efforts. This will be achieved through multi-sectoral collaboration and engagement with all levels of government.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Documentation & MEAL Officer will be responsible for managing the database of the project, and supporting the monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) efforts. This role includes data collection, analysis, reporting, and providing technical support to the team to ensure accurate and timely data that informs performance and decision-making. Additionally, s/he will be required to develop the project studies, research, developing M&E tools and its effective implementation in project work in close collaboration with the ProMHSiN team. S/he will work under the supervision of the Project Manager, MEAL Coordinator and work closely with the project and central team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recording and Reporting Tools:
- Develop recording and reporting tools in coordination with the central MEAL unit, aligned with project activities
Data Collection and Entry:
- Oversee data collection from various sources, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Support technical teams and partners to ensure timely and correct data collection
Database Management and Data Quality:
- Maintain and update the database system, ensuring smooth operation. Implement data integrity, security protocols, and conduct regular backups in coordination with the Central MEAL unit to prevent data loss and ensure recovery
- Conduct routine checks and verifications to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency before sharing with HMIS/DHIS-2 using RDQA
- Maintaining high quality of data across the project
Indicator Based Monitoring:
- Assist the technical team in implementing the MEAL plan at the field level. Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data. Monitor progress against performance indicators and targets and conduct regular data verification and validation checks
- Track and report progress against performance indicators on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis
Capacity Building:
- Technical support in building capacity of project staff and stakeholders to ensure compliance and high-quality data reporting
GEDSI Initiatives:
- Integrate and promote Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) into all relevant project activities as well as ensure that these important principles are reflected in the data collected throughout the project
Communication and Accountability:
- Ensure timely implementation of yearly plans and provide feedback to project teams.
- Establish communication channels with project teams, beneficiaries, and stakeholders to capture input, suggestions, and feedback
- Support the communications team in preparing KOSHISH annual reports
Learning and Documentation:
- Support in documenting quality evidence, lessons learned, best practices, and case stories in collaboration with the communications and documentation unit and project teams
- Disseminate evidence-based findings across various platforms. Produce periodic M&E reports, highlighting key findings and recommendations
- Develop the project based technical learning brief notes
Any other task assigned by the organization relevant to your experience and requirements for the projects.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Science, Development Studies, Statistics, and Monitoring & Evaluation or related field (Master preferred).
Experience:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in MEAL, Research, Documentation is required
- Excellency in data analysis software e.g. SPSS, STATA, advanced excel etc., and familiar with KOBO, ODK
- Proven experience in working on data collection, management, and report preparation to track progress against indicator targets
- Strong analytical skills on qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- Experience in project evaluation, including project studies like baseline, midline and endline studies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office package
- Fluency in both English and Nepali is required
Salary: Negotiable as per competence and experience
