Ipas works globally with a vision that every woman and girl has the right and ability to determine her own sexuality and reproductive health. Ipas Nepal’s program intervention prioritize intersectional partnerships that integrates into the broader gender equality and social justice, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) - including gender-based violence prevention and response, and women-led climate justice.
The access to sustainable and safe abortion comprises of various factors and actors cutting across the standalone health lens. These actors and factors based on the principle of human rights from the onset of programs, policies, and projects formulate a sustainable ecosystem. The introduction of the Human rights-based approach to health aims to realize the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health (right to health) and other health-related human rights through the interrelated and essential elements of availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality (AAAQ).
To contribute for the sustainable abortion access that can be scaled up, replicated, and sustained mainly at local government levels, Ipas is implementing a project called ‘Strengthening the Safe Abortion Ecosystem in Nepal’ from 2020- 2021In this regard, guided by the Ipas Global Strategic Frameworks towards sustainable safe abortion and contraceptive care. Ipas Nepal country strategic plan (2018-23), and the current project aims to attain this through its eight program components/strategies and four cross-cutting components as part of the overarching human rights-based approach (RBA) putting sustainable Women Centered safe abortion care in the center of the ecosystem framework.
To support and strengthening our sustainable abortion ecosystem framework and program, Ipas Nepal is planning to prepare a video documentary of community engagement activities followed by communication materials design for the SRHR. Proposed consultant or consultancy form will support Ipas Nepal to prepare a Natural Leaders (NLs) and community engagement video, documentation to capture most significant changes in the community and develop communication messages for SRHR.
Position: Consultancy for Video Documentary
Duration: Estimated LoE of around 45 Days
Location: Kathmandu
Objective of Assignment:
Ipas Nepal is looking for a consultant or consultancy firm to fulfill following objectives-
- To develop video of NLs movement and community engagement.
- To document and prepare most significant change photo and video stories from the community.
Detailed duties and responsibilities for the assignment:
- Attend orientation meeting with Ipas Nepal team and make engagement plan.
- Share story board, video design concept with Ipas Nepal team.
- Prepare NLs and community engagement video by using existing raw video and capturing new video stories from 4 districts of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim province.
- Prepare photo series to document most significant change together with Ipas Nepal and NLs.
Deliverables for assignment:
- Submit video clips (raw footage), video documentary in 4k resolution (Short video 3-5 min and long video – 15 min) and all raw footages.
- Submit photo series showcasing most significant change.
- Submit a detail report of the assignment.
- Submit a detail report and documentation for Ipas Nepal.
Qualification and skill requirements:
- Minimum three years of experience of documentary production for I/NGOs especially related to SRHR, gender and women’s health and empowerment issues.
- Access to high-quality filming, light, sound and editing equipment.
- Ability to operate under strict time limits and apply high production and technical standards for the purpose of maintaining high level of professionalism.
- Ability to communicate and conduct interviews.
- Track record of successful materials filmed in the region and /or on similar topics would be an asset.
- Consulting firms with experience in designing and developing community video, storytelling and documentation especially focusing on health in community.
