FAYA Nepal, in collaboration with AMDA MINDS/MoFA Japan, has been implementing a project titled "Improving Health Seeking Behaviour of Mother and Children" in Chure rural municipality, Kailali. The primary objective of this partnership is to improve maternal and child health-seeking behavior among the local community and enhance public health services to ensure safe deliveries. As a significant part of this endeavor, constructing a health facility building has been emphasized to not only improve service quality but also set a benchmark for quality infrastructure in public health institutions.

Report to: Project Officer

Purpose of Position:

The Community Health Mobilizer (CHM) works with individuals, families, communities, and Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) to identify and address health needs at the community level. They collaborate with local health officials, CBOs, and community leaders to implement health promotion activities for mothers and children. The CHM is responsible for organizing behavior change communication activities, monitoring and documenting project progress, and serving as a mediator for the IHSBMC Project to evaluate implementation context and overall intervention effectiveness.

Job Responsibility:

  • Represent FAYA Nepal IHSBMC Project at the ward level, including attending local meetings and engaging with local authorities such as health posts, community health units, and ward offices.
  • Distribute Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to the target population and assist the project management team in developing effective communication and implementation strategies.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs), Health Facility Operation and Management Committees (HFOMCs), Health Facilities, and local-level community-based organizations for health promotion and behavior change communication activities, ensuring their ownership in such activities.
  • Assist in developing case studies that support project development or reflect the impact of the project.
  • Provide support for the ROUSG mobile camp implementation at the local level.
  • Facilitate Health Mothers Group Meetings at ward level in collaboration with FCHV and concerned health facilities.
  • Support health facilities for organizing ORC and EPI and conduct health education sessions at ORC and EPI.
  • Conduct pregnant group orientation for sensitizing pregnant women and their families regarding birth preparedness, ANC, institutional deliveries, and PNC visits.
  • Visit pregnant women to provide orientation and encourage them to follow proper antenatal care (ANC), opt for institutional deliveries, prepare for birth, and recognize pregnancy danger signs along with appropriate remedial measures.
  • Organize and facilitate the celebration of various local events, and plan and execute health promotion activities within the community.
  • Carry out any supplementary duties and responsibilities as instructed by the project officer or manager.

Monitoring and progress control, including reporting requirements & deadlines.

  • Consistently monitor community-level activities and document the resulting impact or outcomes.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination among community members and share updates on project activities.
  • Provide the project officer/project manager with information pertaining to the community/ward level.

Required expertise, qualifications, and competencies, including language requirements:

  • The candidate must have completed a course in CMA, ANM, H.A., or Staff Nurse and possess relevant work experience.
  • The candidate should be familiar with community mobilization tools and techniques.
  • The candidate must possess excellent verbal communication skills in Nepali and the local language.
  • The candidate should be willing and able to work under pressure and within a limited timeframe.
  • The candidate must possess negotiation skills to mobilize local resources and maintain coordination with FCHVs, local health service providers, community leaders, and local authorities.
  • The candidate should have a strong understanding of monitoring processes with specific and reasonable patterns.

Delivery, dates, and how work will be delivered:

  • Weekly and monthly tracking of planned versus actual progress.
  • Collection of raw case/success stories and relevant information.

Terms and conditions of employment:

  • The initial contract will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on project requirements and performance.
  • Salary and other benefits are provided in accordance with the regulations set forth by the project or organization.

Expected travel:

  • Field base position and regular traveling within the allocated ward and FAYA office as per requirement.
