KOSHISH, a National Mental Health Self-Help Organization established in 2008, is committed to breaking the silence and amplifying the voices of individuals with mental health conditions and psychosocial disabilities. Our mission is to ensure the inclusion of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) within and beyond the health system. Guided by the principle of "NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US," KOSHISH promotes self-advocacy and empowerment.
Summary
The Communication Specialist will lead the planning and execution of KOSHISH’s communication strategies and guidelines. Working closely with the team, the role focuses on enhancing communication practices, building capacity, and raising awareness about mental health and related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and refine KOSHISH's Communication Strategy and Guidelines, finalize the implementation plan, and oversee its execution.
- Assess current communication practices, including social media, website, organizational profiles, brochures, newsletters, and presentations, and upgrade them to a standard format.
- Review and finalize KOSHISH’s Annual Report.
- Develop staff capacity in creating case stories, news content, event reports, and other materials, ensuring adherence to ethical practices.
- Create and implement branding guidelines within KOSHISH’s Communication Strategy.
- Collaborate with program and MEAL units to develop learning documents and infographics.
- Plan awareness campaigns with specific emphasis on national and international days related to health, mental health, disability, and human rights.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the organization.
Qualifications & Essential Skills
- Education: Master’s degree in communications, Mass Media, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in communication, preferably within NGOs or development organizations.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing communication tools, strategies, and training programs.
- Strong writing and editing skills for developing reports, stories, news content, and other organizational materials in both Nepali and English.
- Proficiency in digital communication, including social media management, website content development, and graphic design basics.
- Knowledge of ethical considerations in storytelling and reporting, particularly in the context of sensitive issues like mental health and human rights.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional interpersonal and team collaboration abilities, with a focus on capacity building and mentoring.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with design tools like Canva, Adobe Illustrator, or Photoshop is a plus.

Salary: Competitive and Negotiable based on competence and experience.
