Kathmandu Animal Treatment (KAT) Centre Nepal is a structured NGO dedicated to addressing animal welfare issues directly. As a nonprofit organization, KAT Nepal receives no federal funding and relies entirely on grants and private donations. We are committed to improving the lives of animals through rescue, rehabilitation, sterilization, adoption, and education programs.

Summary:

KAT Nepal is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will be responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, financial management, and operational effectiveness of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare, nonprofit management, and community engagement.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Proven experience in leadership roles, preferably in the nonprofit sector.

  • Expertise in grant writing and proposal creation.

  • Strong background in researching and securing grants.

  • Master's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, or a related field.

  • Extensive experience in fundraising, donor relations, and event planning.

  • Passion for animal welfare and knowledge of companion animal care and adoption issues.

  • Demonstrated ability in strategic and operational planning.

  • Understanding of fiscal management and accounting principles.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including strong public speaking abilities.

  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written).

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills to support sound decision-making.

  • Strong leadership, management, and motivational skills with experience in staff development and retention.

  • Experience in policy development and implementation.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, delegate responsibilities effectively, and guide investment in staff and infrastructure.

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, Email, and Internet use. QuickBooks experience is a plus.

  • Demonstrated proficiency across multiple social media platforms.

Note: The salary will increase by 36% after the successful completion of the six-month probation period, as per the organization’s policy.

Key Responsibilities:

The CEO will oversee and manage the daily operations of KAT Nepal, ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of its programs and services.

1. Leadership & Strategy:

  • Develop and execute the organization’s strategic vision and mission in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

  • Provide leadership in long-term planning, ensuring the sustainability and growth of KAT Nepal.

  • Maintain and enhance the organization’s reputation within the local and international community.

  • Act as the face of the organization, representing KAT Nepal at events, conferences, and networking opportunities.

2. Financial & Fundraising Management:

  • Lead fundraising initiatives, including donor engagement, grant applications, and fundraising event planning.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding agencies.

  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting to ensure transparency and fiscal responsibility.

  • Identify and secure new revenue streams to support the organization’s mission and programs.

3. Operations & Program Development:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the KAT Centre, including animal rescue, adoption, medical care, and sterilization programs.

  • Ensure high-quality care and humane treatment of all animals at the facility.

  • Supervise and support staff, volunteers, and community service personnel to maintain operational efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, animal welfare regulations, and best practices.

  • Implement policies to enhance shelter management, staff performance, and community engagement.

4. Human Resource Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of staff and volunteers to achieve the organization’s goals.

  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes professional growth.

  • Ensure effective hiring, training, and retention of staff to build a strong, dedicated team.

  • Develop performance evaluation systems and professional development opportunities for employees.

5. Public Relations & Community Engagement:

  • Develop and execute marketing and awareness campaigns to enhance public understanding of animal welfare issues.

  • Foster partnerships with local and international animal welfare organizations, government agencies, and stakeholders.

  • Engage the community through outreach programs, educational initiatives, and volunteer recruitment.

  • Manage the organization's social media presence and public relations strategies.

6. Board Relations & Reporting:

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors, providing updates on organizational progress and challenges.

  • Develop and present reports, proposals, and strategic plans to the Board.

  • Implement board decisions effectively and in alignment with KAT Nepal’s mission and objectives.
