Action Against Hunger | Action Contre la Faim (ACF) is an international humanitarian organization fighting against hunger in the world. Its mission is to save lives eradicating hunger through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, in particular during and after emergency situations caused by conflicts and natural disasters. Today, Action Against Hunger is a major player in the fight against hunger in the world. Structured on an international network, it provides a coordinated response in nearly 50 countries. Its priority is to have effective actions in the fields and testify about vulnerable population. Since the reasons for hunger are many, its response is multi-sectoral based on solid expertise. 

Action Against Hunger started its work in Nepal from 2005 and has been operational in different parts of the country addressing undernutrition through integrated approach following the Nepal Government’s Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Plan. Currently operational in districts province of Nepal, it is fighting hunger through different interventions viz. Advocacy, Food Security, Nutrition & Health, WASH, Research, Emergency response and Disaster Risk Management. 

Action Against Hunger is inviting applications for Survey Enumerators for SMART + Survey. 

CONTRACT TYPE

Expected starting date: 22 November 2024 

Duration: 2 weeks

MAJOR RESPONSIBITIES

  • Oversee team movement and ensure all data collection tools and equipment are functional.
  • Conduct and manage the field data collection process and ensure the quality of data collected.
  • Introduce the survey team and objectives to village leaders or representatives.
  • Select households for sampling and ensure data collection aligns with the survey protocol.
  • Ensure equipment functionality for daily use, especially anthropometric tools.
  • Assist to accurately measure children's nutritional status (including MUAC and Weight-for-Height) and manage referrals if needed.
  • Ensure proper data collection using standardized forms, questionnaires, and anthropometric records via mobile based software. 
  • Maintain and submit cluster control forms and other documentation at the end of each day.
  • Report daily movements and any field challenges to the Survey Manager.

PROFILE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, or Nursing. 
  • Health Assistant (HA) or equivalent qualification with 1-2 years of experience in health and nutrition.
  • Preferred Experience of Health or nutrition surveys, especially in anthropometric assessments of children under five.
  • Proficiency in local languages and strong team leadership skills.
  • Physically able to travel between clusters and navigate fieldwork demands.
  • Experience with data entry and proficiency in using mobile/tablets is an advantage.
  • Ensure adherence to study protocols, ethical standards, and compliance with data collection protocols.
  • Collect anthropometric and questionnaire data from parents/guardians of children aged 6-59 months.
  • Build and maintain rapport with caregivers and maintain confidentiality.
  • Report any concerns to supervisors promptly and work collaboratively with the Survey manager for quality control.
  • Participate in training and data collection procedures and regularly update supervisors on field progress.
