Group of Helping Hands (SAHAS) Nepal is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 1996. It operates in remote rural areas, focusing on empowering vulnerable and marginalized communities for building the resilient communities. SAHAS Nepal has initiated the Research Grant aimed at assisting the students in the final year of their master’s program who are working on thesis proposal.

The program serves a dual purpose; not only it offers the financial grants to the students but it also immerses them in comprehensive research guidance and mentoring initiatives.

In this context, SAHAS invites eligible students to apply for the grants, the specific details for the application are outlined as follows:

Details of the Grant

Eligibility

• Masters students should complete their first year.
• Dissertation should be done in the Project areas Buddhiganga Municipality (Bajura), Chhayanath Rara Municipality (Mugu), Siddhicharan Municipality (Okhaldhunga), Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality (Udayapur), Dhakari Rural Municipality (Achham), Kailari Rural Municipality (Kailali) and Tilagufa (Kalikot).
• The research proposal should be in the following themes.
  • Climate change 
  • Agro biodiversity and seed system
  • Agroecology
  • Water Resource Management
  • Soil Conservation
  • Forest Management and Agro- Forestry
  • Renewable Energy (Improved cooking stoves)

Grant Amount and Duration

• The grant is capped at a maximum of NPR  100,000 with duration of 3 months.

Required Documents

• Cover letter
• Thesis Proposal
• Scanned Academic Mark sheets and their certificates only starting from 10+2, undergraduate and ongoing post-graduate levels.
• Student ID
• Recommendation letter from the thesis supervisor and University/college for the application with consent for applying the grant.

• Please ensure that all necessary document listed above are submitted as a single pdf attachment.

Submission dateline

• All the document must be sent by 28th February 2025

Notification

• Result of the successful applicant will be notified via email by 7th March 2025.
