WWF Nepal, the global conservation organization leading international efforts for a living planet, calls for following proposals:
Call for Proposal: Policy Analysis for Conserving Freshwater Biodiversity in Nepal
The Living Planet Report, 2024 highlights a 73% decline in the average size of monitored wildlife populations over just 50 years (1970-2020). During this period, freshwater biodiversity suffered the most, declining by 85%. The major causes of biodiversity loss include habitat loss and degradation, pollution, overexploitation, and climate change. There is a global commitment to set aside at least 30% of land and waters, for biodiversity conservation by 2030. To translate this global goal into action, Nepal has been preparing revised National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (2024-2030). To conserve freshwater biodiversity effectively, it is necessary to create an enabling policy environment, robust institutional structure and effective conservation measures in place.
WWF Nepal seeks the services of a consultant to conduct policy analysis and prepare a policy brief on freshwater biodiversity conservation in Nepal. Based on analyzing the existing policies, literature review and key stakeholder consultation, the policy brief aims to recommend pragmatic policy, effective institutional arrangement, conservation measures including monitoring matrix and governance approach for freshwater biodiversity conservation in Nepal.
Interested PAN/VAT registered individuals or firms are requested to submit technical and financial proposals providing a detail breakdown of total budget in Nepali rupees, electronically to: proposals-freshwater@wwfnepal.org.
