Call for Proposal: Development of Information Management System for Human Wildlife Conflict

WWF Nepal

Details / requirements:

Protected Areas (PA) such as Shey Phoksundo National Park (SPNP) have communities highly dependent on livestock herding for livelihood. With high snow leopard density of 2.21 individuals/100 sq km, this PA also sees high rates of livestock depredation. During a conflict baseline assessment conducted in 2018, 96% of 124 herders interviewed reported livestock losses to wildlife.

SPNP aims to explore digitizing human-wildlife conflict reporting from across this rugged challenging landscape. With WWF’s support, this initial effort aims to create a phone App for livestock depredation documentation aligned to WDRG relief processing and uploaded by PA team and/or authorized BZ/SLCC/citizen scientists on the ground, and stored in a central database managed at Protected Area HQ.
