A. PROJECT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
Habitat for Humanity Nepal
Habitat for Humanity International Nepal (“Habitat Nepal”), a non-profit international non-governmental organization affiliated with Social Welfare Council, Government of Nepal operates in nine districts of Nepal. The vision of Habitat Nepal is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat Nepal’s purpose is to partner with people in the local community to help them build or improve a place they can call home.
Through its market development program line of business, Habitat Nepal helps to increase the availability and affordability of housing microfinance services, particularly low-income households. Habitat Nepal has prioritized to strengthen microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Nepal by developing affordable housing loan product; housing finance literacy materials; and improve the capacity of MFIs to reach large number of low-income families over 50,000 families by 2022. Habitat Nepal follows guidelines developed by Habitat for Humanity International’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter (TCIS) to promote housing microfinance services. Habitat Nepal is looking to engage a network organization that advocates for creating an enabling environment for microfinance institutions to diversify their portfolios. Through its project namely “Mainstreaming Access to Housing Microfinance and Related Support Services”, Habitat Nepal intends to organize one day knowledge sharing workshop at regional level and policy advocacy workshop at central level in Kathmandu.
Habitat Nepal requests a proposal from interested national organizations that are involved for policy advocacy for microfinance services.
B. OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the engagement/assignment are as follows:
- Organize two events of knowledge sharing workshops at regional level (Biratnagar and Nepalgunj)
- Organize one event of policy advocacy workshop in Kathmandu.
C. SCOPE OF WORK
Organized 3 workshops- Two Knowledge Sharing Workshop and One Policy Advocacy Workshop on Housing Microfinance.
1. Regional level workshop
- Organize one day workshop on knowledges and learnings in housing microfinance at Biratnagar and Nepalgunj
- Participants: CEO/DCEO/Senior management team members of MFIs and Cooperatives
- Number of participants: 25
- Decide venue, date and time of the workshop for Biratnagar and Nepalgunj
- Invitation to MFIs
- Logistic arrangements
- Stationery and other requirements
- Lunch, tea/snacks for workshop day
- Accommodation and food for participants coming from far distance
- Program Schedule (request this from Habitat Nepal office)
2. National level workshop
- Organize one day policy advocacy workshop in Kathmandu on Creating an Enabling Environment-A Case of Housing Microfinance
- Participants: 45
- Representative of Nepal Rastra Bank; Ministry of Finance; USAID; UKAID; UNCDF; IFC, ADB, The World Bank, CEO/DCEO/Senior management team members of MFIs and Cooperatives
- NMBA Executives; MFI CEO/DCEO/Senior Management Team Member
- CEO/DCEO of few Cooperatives
- Decide venue, date and time of the workshop
- Invitation to MFIs
- Hiring of Master of Ceremony and Workshop Moderator
- Logistic arrangements
- Stationery and other requirements
- Breakfast, Lunch, tea/snacks for workshop day
- Accommodation, food and travel arrangements for participants coming from out of Kathmandu
- Program Schedule: Similar to Regional level workshop (request this from Habitat Nepal office)
D. DELIVERABLES/SPECIFIC OUTPUTS EXPECTED FROM CONSULTANT
The service provider should deliver electronic copy of the following documents:
1. Workshop report with photo and attendance sheet.
E. SPECIFIC INPUTS FROM HABITAT NEPAL
- Habitat Nepal will provide the following support:
- Program Schedule for the workshop
- Necessary budget for workshop, and budget proposal template
- Visibility materials
- Guide for preparing banner, workshop schedule, Business case study of Sahara Nepal, SACCOS and Jeevan Bikas Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited
- Communicate and coordinate with partner MFIs and the consultant
- Support for designing joint invitation letter
F. ETHICAL PROTOCOLS: This event must consider the safety of participants. Please note, at a minimum, the proposed approach should comply with international good practice with regards to workshop/training ethics and protocols, particularly with regards to safeguarding of vulnerable groups.
Throughout the assignment engagement, the consultants are expected to adhere to HFHN Code of Conduct including the Safeguarding Policy, ensuring that all measures are taken to protect the rights, safety, and welfare of the individuals and communities involved.

H. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCES REQUIRED
Habitat Nepal wishes to have the following profiles of the workshop organizers:
- The workshop organizer should be either a Network or umbrella organizations of bank and financial institutions or Cooperatives
- Working for microfinance institutions as training, research service providers
- Have organized similar workshops in the past.

- A copy of company registration certificate
- A copy of tax clearance certificate of most recent fiscal year, 2077/2078
- A copy of organization profile
- A copy of PAN/VAT number
- Profile/CV of Executives to be involved in the workshop
