Call for Expression of Interest (EOI) for Consultancy Service to write a Shadow Report on Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) on behalf of Women and Girls with Disabilities in Nepal
Project Title: Building Bridge towards Intersectional Activism in Nepal
BWAN is a national, non-profit, non-political, and rights-based social organization, which is dedicated to advancing the rights of women with disabilities, by integrating them socially and economically into mainstream development. BWAN, in coalition with Access Planet Organization, Dalits with Disabilities Association Nepal, Feminist Dalit Organization, Federation of Women with Disabilities-Nepal, National Indigenous Disabled Women Association Nepal and Pahichan Nepal, is implementing a two-year project entitling "Building Bridge towards Intersectional Activism in Nepal" with the financial and technical support of Disability Rights Fund.
In this context, BWAN announces the call for Expression of Interest (EOI) from qualified and experienced experts to prepare a shadow report on Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) on behalf of Women and Girls with Disabilities in Nepal.
Overall Objective: The overall objective of this consultancy work is to develop a comprehensive shadow report on CEDAW on behalf of the Nepali women and girls with disabilities based on the issues and concerns collected from seven provincial consultations and one national consultation and validation workshop.
Key Deliverables of the Consultancy
Following are the key deliverables of the consultancy service:
- Provide technical inputs on the videography to be developed by the coalition members on CEDAW shadow report writing process.
- Deliver one day training on CEDAW shadow report writing process and develop a comprehensive methodology for the provincial cum national consultations and validations
- Develop a comprehensive shadow report on CEDAW based on the issues and concerns received from all provincial cum national consultations and validation workshop
- Make sure that this developed report is made available in the UN system prescribed template and is in both the languages – English and Nepali.
Scope of the work
- Design training content and methodology to write a shadow report in consultation with coalition members
- Participate in the provincial and national consultation meetings with women and girls with disabilities to gain a comprehensive understanding of their experiences, challenges, and needs
- Take detailed notes on the issues raised during the provincial and national consultations to ensure accurate representation of the participants' perspectives
- Organize and synthesize the findings into a well-structured shadow report that adheres to CEDAW reporting standards
- Formulate and highlight specific recommendations for policy and practice based on the insights gathered during the consultations
- Analyse the effectiveness of the consultation meetings to assess their impact and identify areas for improvement
Timeline: This consultancy service should be completed by December 15, 2024.
