The post holder is responsible for being the focal point for all Service Personnel (SP) and their families’ welfare and other activities as part of BGN’s mission to provide welfare support.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description:

  • Assist with travel claim of personnel travelling on Dangerously ill Forwarding of Relatives (DILFOR)/Inquest/Repatriation ceremony.
  • Assist with initiation of compassionate signal for serving members of the Brigade of Gurkhas (BG) and non-BG personnel of Nepali origin of the British Armed Forces to Joint Casualty and Compassionate Cell (JCCC).
  • Coordinate travel and accommodation with other BGN departments for personnel travelling on compassionate leave.
  • Maintain close liaison with units for inbound/outbound flights of compassionate leave personnel.
  • Assist with leave extension requests of compassionate leave personnel.
  • Maintain records of compassionate leave personnel and Service Personnel (SP) on Individual Leave Allowance (ILA) and Domicile Collective (DOMCOL).
  • Assist with staffing Notification of Casualty (NOTICAS) and DILFOR signal to JCCC.
  • Maintain close liaison with Area Welfare Centres (AWC) and their contact details.
  • Maintain and udpate records of marriage registration, divorce and birth.
  • Maintain records of marital dispute cases in Nepal and inform respective Units.
  • Assist with administration of repatriation of deceased service personnel.
  • Submit a bi-weekly compassionate and welfare statistics to BUWO.
  • Maintain a centralised register of safeguarding trainings and all mandatory training.
  • Maintain all office files and routine correspondences.
  • Any other duties as directed by BUWO

What you will be doing:

Responsibilities:

  • Initiation of compassionate/DILFOR/NOTICAS signals to the JCCC.
  • Maintaining records of Service Personnel (SP) and their families on compassionate /DILFOR/NOTICAS, and on Individual Leave Allowance (ILA) and Domicile Collective (DOMCOL) leave.
  • Coordinating travel and accommodation requirements of SP and families on compassionate leave.
  • Maintaining close liaison with AWCs and their contact details.
  • Assisting with administration of repatriation of deceased service personnel.
  • Submitting a bi-weekly compassionate and welfare statistics to BUWO.
  • Maintaining of a database of safeguarding and all mandatory trainings. 
  • Submit a daily and monthly personnel attendance report (PERSREP) to iHub.
  • Maintain leave records of all welfare office personnel.
  • Initiate digitisation of all hard copy records.
  • Conduct regular Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) of all electrical appliances in the department.
  • Act as assistant building custodian.
  • Any other tasks directed by the Welfare Officer.

You must have:

  • Excellent written/ spoken English and Nepali language skills.
  • Excellent IT knowledge using MS Office tools (Including Outlook, Excel & Word)
  • Proven experience, qualifications, and training is preferable for this role to deliver the job responsibility effectively and efficiently.
  • You will be assessed on your English language skills and IT knowledge and skills through a Practical Assessment to qualify for interviews during the sifting and selection process.

Benefits & Working Environment:

  • Salary 95,534.00 NPR per month (Permanent).
  • Gratuity after completing three years of service.
  • Dashain Bonus & Retirement Funds (EPF & CIT).
  • Annual leave 25 days and public holidays 10 days.
  • 100% reimbursement of medical expenses for the employee and limited reimbursement for immediate family members (spouse and children).
  • Child allowance of NPR 3,000.00 per child up to 18 years.

Security Check:

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is a Govt of Nepal Police Report for employment in Nepal.
