Business Development Officer
Details / requirements:
Water Center Twenty One पहल, a non-profit organization, with it's head office in Bharatpur, Chitwan district intends to hire a BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER for the project "Women Led Sanitary Pad/ Handicraft Business and Commercial Farming in Madi, Chitwan (खुशी)" for a period of 18 months starting from around the first week of December 2023. The position will be based in Kathmandu/Bharatpur, with frequent travel to the field located in Madi. Water Center Twenty One पहल is working in 4 districts of Nepal in the fields of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH); Water and Life Development; Commercial and innovative farming services; Municipal strategic planning and strengthening local governance.
Qualification:
1. Master’s degree in business administration, Development Studies, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2. At least 5 years of proven track record in business development, fundraising, or grant writing within the water-related sector or similar contexts.
3. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and networking skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
4. Strong financial acumen and familiarity with financial planning and management.
5. Fluency in both English and Nepali languages.
Job Description:
1. Market Research and Analysis:
a. Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential markets, customer segments, and distribution channels for KHUSI Pad products and agricultural produce.
b. Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to inform business strategies.
2. Business Planning and Strategy Development
a. Work closely with women entrepreneurs to develop robust business plans, including financial projections, marketing strategies, and operational plans for both the KHUSI Pad business and commercial farming ventures.
b. Provide guidance on pricing, product positioning, and brand development.
3. Partnership Development and Stakeholder Engagement
a. Identify and establish strategic partnerships with potential distributors, retailers, and market outlets to expand the reach of KHUSI Pad products and agricultural produce.
b. Engage with relevant stakeholders, including local authorities, industry associations, and financial institutions, to foster a conducive business environment.
4. Access to Finance and Financial Management
a. Facilitate access to financial resources, including loans, grants, and investment opportunities, to support the growth and sustainability of women-led enterprises.
b. Provide guidance on financial planning, budgeting, and management to ensure sound financial practices.
5. Capacity Building and Training
a. Organize training sessions and workshops on business development, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and marketing for women entrepreneurs and project beneficiaries.
b. Foster a culture of continuous learning and skill-building within the business community.
6. Business Expansion
a. Identify, engage, and establish strategic partnerships with potential donors, stakeholders, and funding organizations that resonate with Pahal's mission and objectives.
b. Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to secure funding and resources for water-focused projects and initiatives.
c. Conduct thorough market research, stay updated on industry trends, and proactively identify potential funding opportunities to support Pahal's mission.
d. Prepare, review, and submit grant proposals, project budgets, and funding requests in alignment with organizational goals.
7. Partnership Management
a. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, community-based groups, and other stakeholders.
b. Actively collaborate with partners to leverage resources, knowledge, and expertise for the successful execution of water projects.
Reporting Structure: The Business Development Officer will report directly to the Project Manager and work closely with the project team and पहल Board of Directors.
