Position Overview: Assistant Accounting Officer
The Assistant Accounting Officer plays a role in supporting the finance and accounting functions of the organization. This position is responsible for assisting in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the daily operations of the accounting department. Working under the supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer, the Assistant Accounting Officer helps in processing transactions, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and participating in audits and budget planning. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, and possess a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice verification and payment processing.
- Help ensure compliance with internal controls, organization policies, and relevant financial regulations.
- Assist with tax filings, audits, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Help maintain organized financial documentation and records.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Flexibility and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as the organization requires.
