Children-Women in Social Service and Human Rights (CWISH), a non-profit civil society organization established in 1993 with an aim to ensure social justice, protection and promotion of human rights especially the rights of children and youths, invites applications for the post of Advocacy Officer from interested and eligible candidates (Nepali citizens only) who are reliable, accountable, and have ability to deliver results with highest level of integrity.
With the aim to contribute CWISH goal, the vacancy is called for ‘Power Girls’ project being implemented in two Rural Municipalities of Sindhupalchowk from January 2023 funded by Interpedia, Finland. The project aims to address gender inequality and discrimination through improving child rights, especially of vulnerable girls, whose rights are often undermined through discriminatory practices leading to school dropouts, child marriage and trafficking; and achieve the outcome that the girls are empowered to be active advocates for their rights, with their agenda supported by the communities and authorities.

Job Summary:
In close coordination with project team s/he is responsible for empowering vulnerable girls; transferring legal knowledge to children, teachers, community leaders and members of the committees; enhancing capacities of Girl Advocacy Groups (GAGs) and local child right committees in developing advocacy strategies. S/he is responsible for the advocacy with Local Government and other relevant stakeholders for plan and policies formulation, amendments and implementation regarding child protection and meaningful participation of children. This position reports to Project Coordinator.
Key Qualification and competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or social science (sociology/social work/development studies)
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in non-government organizations
- Experience in doing lobby, advocacy and campaigns with especial focus on child led advocacy
- Sound knowledge on GESI, child rights, child protection, child friendly local governance and local government structures.
- Experience on training delivery and writing reports, case studies and success stories.
- Proven experience of working with Local Government and School
- Sense of activism, self-motivated, goal-oriented, and enthusiastic
- Adequate computer skill, such as Microsoft Office.
- Able to communicate effectively and have good facilitation skill.
- Must be Fluent in English and Nepali (written and spoken).
- Candidate having two-wheeler and a valid driving license will be preferred
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the plan and implementation of all advocacy initiatives of Project.
- In close coordination with project team design and deliver capacity enhancement sessions to Girl Advocacy Groups (GAGs) and facilitate them for developing advocacy strategies and implement advocacy campaigns.
- Supervise Social Mobilizers in planning and implementing advocacy program in school and local communities.
- Work closely with local government representatives, local child right committees, SMCs/PTAs and other relevant stakeholders and deliver training/ workshop/meeting to them to enhance their capacities on child protection
- Compile and verify project data and reports on monthly basis and support in preparation of periodic Progress Reports.
- Document the good practices and report to the Project Coordinator.
