In order to achieve this, Amnesty Nepal strives to undertake research and action-focused advocacy campaigns to prevent and end all forms of human rights abuses. Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Admin and Finance Manager
LOCATION: Amnesty International Nepal, Balaju, Kathmandu
Line Manager: Director via Admin & Finance Manager

- Campaigns, Media & Communications, Membership and Admin Units at Amnesty International Nepal
- Treasurer of the Amnesty International Nepal’s National Board

Overall purpose of Job: To ensure the sound management of Amnesty International Nepal’s finances including the development and monitoring of budgets, and the oversight and control of all incomes and expenditures; and to ensure smooth administrative, logistical and operational management of AI Nepal under the supervision of the Director.
Financial responsibilities: The incumbent will work in collaboration with the Director for planning, securing and monitoring the AI Nepal’s budget and for reporting on financial matters to the Board.
Administrative responsibilities: The incumbent is responsible in collaboration with the Section Director for ensuring the smooth management and supply of the administrative, logistical, human resources, and other operational needs of the organisation
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management
- Implement financial policies of Amnesty International Nepal and develop procedures, guidelines, and controls to maintain sound financial practices.
- Administer payments, including payroll, vendor payments, and other financial obligations of the organization.
- Handle book-keeping, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure all financial documents (both electronic and hard copies) are properly organized and filed.
- Ensure the accounting software system is maintained and functions effectively to support financial management tasks.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reports to the Section Director and International Secretariat.
- Assist in the annual external financial audit of the organization;
- Liaise with government agencies, banks and other external supporters, as required;
- Coordinate with members of the organization on financial matters, including handling of the reimbursements and resolving pertinent queries.
- Maintain and regularly update the asset register, ensuring accurate records for all office equipment and furnishings.
- Ensure timely completion of all legal and administrative requirements of the organization, including tax filings, exemptions, and renewals with relevant authorities.
Budget Planning and Control
- Consolidate the annual and project budgets submitted by the different departments/staff for the consideration and approval of the Director;
- Provide budget planning support for the development of funding applications for RAM and other donors as needed;
- In collaboration with the Director, monitor that programme activities are in line with approved budgets, and report any anticipated and actual deviations to the Director for consideration and approval;
- Stay up-to-date on financial policies and developments within Amnesty International, especially with regard to Resource Allocation Mechanism (RAM) funding, and local statutory requirements;
- Attend relevant meetings and conferences in Nepal and internationally as agreed with the Director.
Administrative Management
- Ensure the smooth operation of the office by overseeing the security and other critical needs of the organization to safeguard the assets, equipment, and data.
- Support the Director in human resources management of the Organization including, among others, in the recruitment, attendance, leave records, and performance appraisal of the staff through an employee database system.
- Undertake proactively support initiatives to AI Nepal's team in its businesses including in the organization of public events and programmes.
- Undertake filed visits with AI Nepal team as and when required or requested for activities.
- Display a learning attitude and contribute to the overall office goals in general.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business management or a related field is required. Professional certificate (ACCA, CA, CPA) will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- At least five years of working experience in the finance role in non-profit organizations;
- Experience in managing the finance using Tally software;
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, and handling of web based management systems.
- Ability to manage changing or conflicting priorities and operate effectively within a demanding work environment;
- Ability to communicate clearly;
- Ability to coordinate and motivate members in a team and generate and maintain the team spirit.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in both oral and written English and Nepali.
