Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the overall financial management of the company, ensuring compliance with Nepalese financial regulations and international accounting standards. This position involves overseeing the company's financial operations, including budgeting, procurement, financial reporting, and tax compliance. The Senior Accountant will support business functions related to the import and export of agro products, fertilizers, seeds, and agricultural machinery. Key responsibilities include managing daily financial activities, facilitating audits, and providing critical financial insights to aid business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual and project budgets in consultation with the Director and department heads.
- Ensure funds are allocated efficiently for operations, product procurement, and administration.
- Implement and maintain financial controls, ensuring compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Oversee procurement processes, ensuring alignment with financial planning.
- Verify and record daily financial transactions using computerized accounting software.
- Prepare financial statements including general ledger, trial balance, income statement, and balance sheet.
- Ensure timely submission of financial reports to management and relevant agencies.
- Manage tax compliance including income tax, VAT, and other legal requirements.
- Collaborate with external auditors and ensure internal audits are conducted periodically.
- Manage contracts, purchase orders, and other official documents, ensuring all financial transactions are properly documented.
- Ensure timely payment of salaries and funds for vendors and partners.
- Respond to financial queries from management and stakeholders.
- Coordinate financial communication with sales teams and field staff.
- Conduct periodic field visits to monitor the financial management of ongoing projects.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting (Master’s preferred) from a recognized institution.
- At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a trading or import/export company.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and auditing processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally) and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Solid understanding of taxation laws, import/export regulations, and financial reporting.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Nepali.
- High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and attention to detail.
- Know about import export and banking process.
