Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is an international conservation charity founded in 1826 as the world's first scientific zoological society. During its near 200 years history, it has had a firm legacy of conservation, research, and animal care in over 50 countries, helping it pursue its vision of a world where wildlife thrives. ZSL's purpose is to inspire, inform and empower people so that they understand their roles in helping stop wild animals from going extinct. ZSL has been working in Nepal for the past 27 years. After having formally established a country office in 2014, ZSL has actively supported the Ministry of Forests and Environment (MoFE) to achieve its conservation goals across Nepal through the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation. ZSL Nepal Office is seeking applications from qualified, talented and result oriented Nepalese citizens for our Safeguarding and Communication Officer and Finance Officer position.
1. Safeguarding and Communication Officer
The Safeguarding and Communication Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring various organizational compliances are on track and adhered to. They will oversee the implementation, updating, and reporting of the Environment and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and conduct monitoring and evaluation of ongoing ZSL projects. This role involves close collaboration with the ZSL team and Implementing Partners to streamline current operations and ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality outputs with significant conservation impacts. Therefore, the Safeguarding and Communication Officer should consider themselves as advocates for ZSL's mission, vision, and values always. Further, the position requires supporting towards project development, project reporting, planning, monitoring and evaluating the progress of ZSL implemented projects to provide a basis for evidence-based decision making. In addition to safeguard responsibilities, effective communication will be a key component of this role, facilitating engagement with stakeholders, conveying project progress, and promoting awareness of ZSL's conservation efforts.
Qualifications: The post holder should have at least a Master’s degree in relevant discipline (social science/development studies or a related field or other relevant discipline). Should demonstrate a track record of expertise in E&S safeguard systems or qualitative research, as well as proficiency in monitoring and evaluation, and engagement with stakeholders in ZSL-supported conservation projects as needed. Good knowledge and pragmatic skills in safeguarding and communication related topics. Possess in-depth knowledge of both National and International Environment and Social Safeguard instruments, as well as environmental rules and regulations. Strong ability to create and manage digital marketing including social media and ability to adapt to new trends and changes in the market. A good understanding of the socio-political context of Nepal, specifically of the western lowland region. The candidates must have 5 years of relevant work experience which is accepted in lieu of degree.

2. Finance Officer
The Finance Officer plays a crucial role to effectively engage, support and monitor finance activities in the country office to ensure sound financial management, risk identification and management, compliance, planning/reporting and financial controls to achieve objectives under ZSL 200. The post holder will work closely with the Deputy Country Director, Finance and Operations Manager and Project Lead for soft services to deliver the responsibilities and activities as noted within the key responsibilities section of this document, focussing predominantly on the areas of Hard Facilities Management, Asset Management, Workplace Management, etc.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have 3 years or above of relevant accounting and financial management experience. Extensive experience in the development and variance analysis of budget. Proven experience in undertaking financial reporting responsibilities. The candidate must be educated to Master's degree level in relevant subject, or related subject area, or equivalent qualification, or demonstrate such a level of equivalent qualifications and experience through relevant practical work experience.
