Our technical staff on the ground now includes physicians, nurses, surgeons, as well as specialists in water, sanitation and hygiene, mental health and psycho-social support and nutrition.

POSITION SUMMARY/ SCOPE OF WORK:

International Medical Corps Nepal follows international norms for the procurement of pharmaceutical products and respects patents and national drug regulations. The principal aim is the procurement of pharmaceutical products and medical devices of acceptable quality so that the risk of procuring poor quality items is reduced. Examples of poor quality items are any counterfeit or substandard pieces of medical equipment, medical devices or pharmaceuticals.

The role of the pharmacist consultant shall be to conduct pharmaceuticals vendor qualification assessment. This shall include physical visit of felicities and representative interview.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties of the Pharmacist Consultant shall be to make sure that the preâ€qualification procedures for vendors are based on the following principles:

  • Reliance on the information supplied by the relevant National Drug Regulatory Agency,
  • Evaluation of product data and information submitted by manufacturers, including product formulation, manufacturing and test data and their results
  • General understanding of the production and quality control activities of the manufacturers and suppliers and of their commitment to the principles of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Assessment of consistency in the production processes and quality control activities through compliance with GMP, as described in the respective WHO publications and supplementary WHO GMP guidelines,
  • Availability of appropriate quality systems and Standard Operating Procedures,
  • Adequate purchasing mechanisms †note WHO’s Model Quality Assurance System (MQAS)  

Qualifications/Education/ Experience/ Language:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education : Bachelor degree in pharmacy (Preferably Masters degree in Pharmacy)
  • Experience : 4 – 6 Years experiences (preferable in (MoH) National pharmaceuticals regulations or WHO pharmaceutical system).
  • Language : Fluent in both Nepali, and English

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Excellent knowledge of Nepal pharmaceuticals system, WHO Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Model Quality Assurance System (MQAS), Good Storage Practices (GSP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP),….. 
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to effectively multi-task with complete follow through.
  • Must be energetic, self-motivated, and flexible.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication/written including technical documentation skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate and train technical information to non-technical users.
  • Works well individually and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to communitcate with fluency in both English and Nepali, including the ability to translate technical knowledge in both languages
