JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. is seeking applications for the post of Junior Field Officer in the Chlorhexidine Navi Care Program funded by USAID through Saving Lives at Birth. Chlorhexidine Navi Care Program is supporting the Government of Nepal's Ministry of Health’s intention to reduce neonatal mortality, specifically through support for introduction of the use of Chlorhexidine for cord care in different districts of Nepal.

Position: Junior Field Officer

No. of Positions: 12

Location: Dhankuta, Morang, Sunsari, Mahottari, Udyapur, Gorkha, Baglung, Dailekh, Bardiya, Jumla, Doti and Baitadi

Position type: Short term contract

Duration: Six months with possibility of extension

WORK RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with DPHO / DHO to support them in the implementation of the use of Chlorhexidine for cord care in the district
  • Ensure adequate stock of Chlorhexidine gel tube at the district store, health facility and with FCHVs, its proper storage; and minimize wastage
  • Provide technical support to the health facilities and FCHVs
  • Conduct intensive field monitoring (onsite as well as distance monitoring) at the health facilities and community level
  • Support to review use of chlorhexidine use data reported through HMIS and chlorhexidine gel tube stock data reported through LMIS at district and health facilities level and provide necessary feedbacks
  • Ensure Chlorhexidine cord care related SBCC printed materials reached and used at all levels (health facilities, female community health volunteers and pregnant women)
  • Ensure and monitor radio airings are being done at the district level by local FM’s
  • Prepare monthly report according to given format and report on time

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency Certificate Level in General Medicine / Proficiency Certificate Level in Nursing with 2 years relevant experience or Bachelor in Public Health/Post Basic Bachelor in Nursing / Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Good interpersonal skill
  • Sound skills on E-mail / Internet, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel frequently to remote areas of program districts
