Nepal Red Cross Society - CEHP

Nepal Red Cross Society manages CEHP (Community Empowerment for Health Promotion Program) in collaboration with Swiss Red Cross since 2001. The service of this program are implemented Mid-West Region (MWR) of Nepal. The core services of CEHP are Community Health and WASH, HIV prevention, sensitization of NCDs and strengthening capacity of Red Cross and community network. The program was mainly implemented in Jajarkot, Dang, Rukum, Rolpa and Dolpa districts in previous phase. The new phase-VII of the programme is being implemented from July 2018 to June 2021 with the continuation of two components-Health and WASH in Province 5 (Dang and Rolpa district) and Province Karnali (West Rukum and Kalikot district)

Nepal Red Cross Society, Community Empowerment for Health Promotion Program (CEHP) Nepalgunj invites applications from suitable and qualified Nepali citizen for the following position.

Position: District Coordinator (Level Five)

NUMBER: One

DUTY STATION: Rukum district,

DURATION: One year contract with possibility of extension.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency certificate level passed from recognized college/institute, preference will be given to WASH and health background. Need good communication/facilitation skill in Nepali and English language and ability to write reports in both languages, good commands in computer application, knowledge on account keeping, good coordination and management skill, 2 years work experience on community level water, sanitation, hygiene and health programme, interested to work in remote and travel frequently in program areas. Age bar is 18-35 yrs.

PURPOSE OF JOB

Under the direct supervision of the District Chapter, the District Coordinator plays the key role for the management of WASH-PHC related activities with specific and focused inputs to the NRCS district chapter, sub-chapters, D-WASH-CC, V-WASH-CC and CBOs to implement action plans and project activities according to calendar of operation, policy and procedure laid down by the program based on MoU.

The employee will also provide general management support to other projects (if needed) without hampering the services of core project(s) supported by CEHP.

The employee will be stationed in the district chapter, although h/she has to be spent more than 75% of his time in the field to ensure the effective implementation of the programme. In additional, h/she will spend considerable amount of the time to make well functioning district chapter.

OUTLINE OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Ensure active functioning of  V-WASH-CCs, VACC, VQAC in coordination with D-WASH-CC, DACC and DQAC.
  • Support V-WASH-CCs to review and implement VDC WASH plan
  • Support health facilities to review and implement the VDC health plan
  • Support VDC Coordinators to provide the input to CBOs (Health mothers groups, W-WASH-CCs etc) based on the results of their capacity assessment
  • Ensure the effective implementation of project operational plan under CH-WASH component as agreed with NRCS CEHP and NRCS District Chapter (DC)
  • Ensure the implementation of prepared annual plan
  • Utilize the developed formats and tools etc for the effective implementation of the project
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, seminars and trainings as planned.
  • Participate in programme related meetings, orientation, workshops and trainings.
  • Provide inputs to enhance the facilitation, communication, coordination capacity of VDC Coordinators as per need.
  • Make regular visit to the programme areas to monitor and observe progress of the project and also to provide micro level input to the relavants
  • Explore various tools/thoughts and share to V-WASH-CC to achieve the total sanitation status in the communities
  • Maintain good coordination and linkages with related stakeholders (D-WASH-CC, DQAC, DACC, RHCC, V-WASH-CC, GOs, VACC, VQAC, NGOs etc) to achieve the optimum result of the programme.
  • Collect information and prepare monthly and event based report and send on time.
  • Maintain the records of financial transactions as per NRCS rules and send the financial report to CEHP on time.
  • Review the programme as per M & E plan and explore the possibilities to mobilize available resource to achieve the optimum result.
  • Support NRCS DC to develop proposal, annual report etc as per need
  • Support to conduct OD activities of NRCS DC
  • Fulfill other assignments given by CEHP and NRCS DC in relation to CH-WASH
